Publisher's summary

In the tunnels deep under London, the Earth Elementals are dying. Hunted by something they know only as the Rotman, the Elementals have no-one trustworthy they can turn to. Enter Don Drake, diabolist and semi-reformed hitman, and an almost-fallen angel called Trixie.

When the matriarch tells Don that Rotman is actually the Archdemon Bianakith, he knows this is going to be a tough job. Bianakith is the foretold spirit of disease and decay whose aura corrupts everything it comes near, and even the ancient foundations of London will crumble eventually.

Now Don, Trixie and the Burned Man have to hatch a plan to keep Bianakith from wiping out the Elementals and bringing down the city. But the Burned Man has other plans, and those may have dire consequences for everyone.

EXCELLENT.

Very good. Very interesting plot and fast moving. The protagonist and his allies fighting against evil. Most enjoyable. Peter McLean is a very talented writer and Mark Meadows narrated/performed very well and bring the story to life. Worth a credit. I am listening to book 3 right now and I hope there will more books coming out soon

Let sleeping goddesses lie

The plot was rather heavy-handed with the foreshadowing. I saw most of the twists from a mile away. But, the characters grew on me. I liked Don a bit more in this book, even if I still felt like not enough attention was paid to fleshing out positive parts of his personality. Trixie still felt like filler;
shouldn’t a half-angel have more moxie? This was an okay matinee listen, as long as you don’t mind
the odd F bomb or C word and the occasional seedy henchman.

Unfortunately, the next book turned in the wrong direction, embracing Don hitting rock bottom. The first half of the book is him having run off, living a junkies’ life. The second half is an incoherent mystery with a disappointing reveal and a cliffhanger ending. With no book 4 in sight, I recommend stopping here.

Another excellent installment

Such a great second book to the series. I don't do plot summaries in my reviews but if you liked the first book you'll love this too. Amazing narration too.
