A Warhammer 40,000 Audiobook

Gryphonne IV is dead – one of the mightiest forge worlds in the arsenal of the Adeptus Mechanicus, succumbed to the relentless hunger of Hive Fleet Leviathan. Devoured. Lost.

The few magi that survive drift in idleness, robbed of purpose and direction. But there is one who rejects that fate.

Politics amongst the machine

One or two plot threads left dangling but a fun look at AdMech politicking and motivation.

Skip it

If you really love mechanicus like I do, it’s really really fun to listen to. But that being said it sucks lol the writer is actually really good, in all ways, but calling the story unsatisfying is a massive understatement. Like nothing about the way this story ends is enjoyable. If you like the real mundane boring pain of the grim dark of 40k you’ll like the way this ends, besides that, pass on it.

Fantastic

The Mechanicus at their best - this book was a surprise but quickly became one of my new favorites after listening through it. The novel gives a great analysis of how flawed the Cult can be and gives great side characters to provide for a compelling narrative. It left me wanting more but this story is a nicely self-contained quest for one Magos (Ductrix?) to find her own way to redemption. Definitely worth the time and the price of admission!

changed review - solid mechanics block

not a bad audiobook, a bit dry in the beginning but it picks up midway through. I submitted a review prior but relistened to it and wanted to change my opinion.

Excellent Characters, Excellent Performance, Disgusting Ending

Every character was good, the V.A. was immaculate, the general premise is intresting, but the ending was handled so poorly. The M.C. just changes on a dime and suffers no real consequences for anything done prior.

Mechanicus being Mechanicus

It’s a explorator story, small scale. There’s no grandeur like similar stories and the writer takes it easy on Mechanicus speech. Good read for new fans, lack of deep lore for old fans. My only gripe is a minor detail on the fall of a forge world. I just wish there was more exotic tech being used during the battle since it was a foundational forge world.
