The world’s greatest bodybuilder. The world’s highest-paid movie star. The leader of the world’s sixth-largest economy. That these are the same person sounds like the setup to a joke, but this is no joke. This is Arnold Schwarzenegger. And this did not happen by accident. Arnold’s stratospheric success happened as part of a process. As the result of clear vision, big thinking, hard work, direct communication, resilient problem-solving, open-minded curiosity, and a commitment to giving back. All of it guided by the one lesson Arnold’s father hammered into him above all: be useful.

In this brilliant book, she describes how success in school, work, sports, the arts, and almost every area of human endeavor can be dramatically influenced by how we think about our talents and abilities. In this edition, Dweck offers new insights into her now famous and broadly embraced concept. She introduces a phenomenon she calls false growth mindset and guides people toward adopting a deeper, truer growth mindset.

Do you ride the escalator or do you take the stairs? No matter how you define success, it always requires one thing: self-discipline. But as popular speaker and strategist Rory Vaden explains, we live in an "escalator world", one that's filled with shortcuts, quick fixes, and distractions that make it all too easy to slide into procrastination, compromise, and mediocrity. What seems like an easier path is really much harder in the end - and, most important, it won't take you where you want to go.

They get out into the world, try new things, and make mistakes, and in doing so, they benefit from unexpected experiences and opportunities. Drawing on the authors’ research in human development and innovation, Fail Fast, Fail Often shows readers how to allow their enthusiasm to guide them, to act boldly, and to leverage their strengths - even if they are terrified of failure.

Too short, but wisdom doesn't take a lot of time
JB
My only complaint is that the book is too short, but I guess wisdom is wisdom whether its given to you over a lifetime or in a few hours. If you need motivation or help getting your head on straight then this is the book you've been looking for. It's no-nonsense and straight up delivery is appreciated. The only thing holding you back is you, and the fact that you haven't checked this book out yet. SO DO IT!
Narration is good and Bresnahan spools out the advice in a sagely fashion.

Encouraging
This book is an encouragement to those of us who think we can't do something. These uplifting experiences definitely prove that even if we are not good at something, if we put our minds to it and practice, then we can achieve it. No, we may not be the best, but in the end, we did it. Not only that, but it shows that adaptability is definitely something that people look for when it comes to working with people.
