About this listen

His name was Adam Kyler. He had eyes as black as licorice jujubes and a spit curl hooked across his forehead that reminded me of a young Superman. He was nine years old. It wasn't his fault he was standing in the alley, but I shot him just the same....

Dopple Dribble is a story of revenge from beyond the grave and I guarantee you without a shadow of a doubt that after you hear this story, the very next time that you hear the sound of some kid walking down the sidewalk under the streetlights dribbling a basketball you are going to spend the rest of the night scared stiff and wide awake.

Don't say that I did not warn you.

Karma's Last Bounce

Dopple Dribble may be short, but it packs a lot of bounce (pun intended) with a serious creep factor. The story is well written, full of action, intrigue, and a little humor thrown in. I absolutely enjoyed this book, and it's true I will never look at a basketball the same way ever again. I received this audiobook from a website for free, and this is my honest and unbiased review that I am voluntarily leaving here.

Thunk Thunk Thunk

I love Steve Vernon's short stories, they just keep getting better and better, I like the names he gives his characters like Pig Vomit and Chico Fat...You have to be a little off to want to kill a basketball, I don't know how Steve think's this stuff up for his stories.Again Theo Holland does a fine job of narrating.

Short and Spooky!

Mr. Vernon has written a compact story that keeps the tension ramped up until the end, and Theo Holland does a very good job with the narration.

Recommended.

Attention grabber!!

I loved this short story. Steve Vernon grabs your attention at the very beginning, keeps you in suspense, and packs a great amount of detail in a very short amount of time. I would have loved to have had it be a longer story as I was really enjoying it. It was kind of like Steven King meets Tales from the Crypt. If you like the odd, spooky type stories you will love this one.

Theo Holland did an amazing job as narrator. I love how he can bring a story to life and make you feel like you are there watching it all unfold.

"Shush Bang. And then it was over."

"Shush Bang. And then it was over." Adam was killed dribbling his basketball in the alley. Now the murderer is being haunted by that basketball. "Thump. Thump. Thump."
A very short read. Character names of Pig Vomit and Cheeko Fat. The haunting thump, thump sound of a basketball. Good descriptive writing. And a narrator to express the horror and haunt to perfection. All very creepy.

Short and Sweet

While the story itself is a bit silly, Steve Vernon pulls it off perfectly. The quick and tense story starts you out on the edge of your seat and keeps you there until the end. I loved how the revenge was exacted. Theo Holland did a great job with the narration and his voice added to the overall tense story.

Reminiscent of Stephen King short stories

Short, scary story that reminds me a lot of Mr. King’s short stories. I’m a huge horror/mystery/thriller fan but I’m not crazy about extreme gore unless it’s going to actually add to the story and not be a distraction for weak writing. This was a great story that kept me entertained while I was in traffic. I will be listening to more from this author to get my daily dose of scare.
