About this listen
This just in
On the weather front, category four Hurricane Kevin took a last-minute left and is headed straight for the Bellissimo Resort and Casino in Biloxi, Mississippi.
In breaking news, undercover casino operative Davis Way has one foot out the evacuation door when 50 million dollars disappear, and in its place, a dead body.
In other news, if forced to ride out the storm on the hotel's 13th-floor fortress, Davis won't be alone. Her husband, Bradley, her best friend, Fantasy, and a crew of highly trained first responders will be hurricane hostages, too, along with Mississippi State Gaming Agents, a FEMA agent, an insurance agent, a State Special Agent, and an Emergency Response Agent - at least one of them a double agent.
The good news is her high school reunion is cancelled. The bad news is everything else. The fake news features a castaway pig named Bacon.
The hurricane heist headlines will be sensational. If Davis survives to see them.

Story
It's been said that all great literature boils down to one of two stories—a man takes a journey, or a stranger comes to town. While mystery writers have been successfully using both approaches for generations, there's something undeniably alluring in the nature of a stranger: the uninvited guest, the unacquainted neighbor, the fish out of water. In the newest collection of stories by the Mystery Writers of America, each author weaves a fresh tale surrounding the eerie feeling that comes when a stranger enters our midst, featuring stories by prolific mystery writers.

Good Listen
Overall an enjoyable listen. At times the Bible verses were confusing, but didn’t distract. A mystery and drama without a lot of direct violence and gory details. Told in a very funny-easy listening format. Looking for other books.

Another winner....
Gretchen Archer has written another winner, with the latest installment in the Davis Way Crime Caper Series. As in previous installments, this one included all the characters we’ve grown to love mixed with zany situations that drive the series. I highly enjoyed it and was saddened when it ended. I highly recommend this book and series to fans of cozy mysteries. I also would like to suggest starting with the first in the series.

laughing out loud
Wonderful narrator! Loved the chef.....I was laughing out loud each time.
The plot was good except rushed at the end (like most books.....not necessarily the author's fault).

Wonderful Author and Narrator!
It's been a couple years since I've listened to one of the books in this series. I was completely caught up on the previous books and a new one wasn't due for a while (and then I had to wait for the audio book to be released), so I explored others authors and made new friends. But I was between books again and decided to revisit this series, which now had a few more books to explore, and audio ready! I must say I quickly remembered why this had become an absolute favorite when I discovered it! The stories are fresh, exciting and there's never a moment when I'm not all caught up in the adventure! I found myself avoiding things I needed to do, because I didn't want to stop listening! The narrator's voices makes the story into a movie in my head! She's just fabulous! I can't wait to start the next book, and so glad there are more waiting for me! I'm just trying to force myself to complete some adulting tasks before I dive back into this amazing world of adventure, humor and intrigue! Thank you Gretchen Archer for creating this world, and Amber for bringing it to life!

Nonstop action
I enjoyed listening to the book, and chuckled through most of it. It was only after I finished that I realized that it was totally confusing. I still wasn't sure who shot Eddie. I HAD to listen to it again. I am still not sure I got the whole plot, but I know that I enjoyed the ride.

So many twists and turns!
I love this series. I love this author. I love this narrator. The story is funny and engaging with lots of well written, descriptive flourishes. Gretchen Archer is one of my all time favorite authors. I enjoy her writing style and dry humor punches throughout the story. The narrator captures the hearts of the characters. I hope this series never ends.

Gretchen Archer Never Disappoints
I know I'm possibly the only person in America to have never been in a casino,, having said b that Gretchen Archer's descriptions are so vivid I feel like I've been there.
Davis is sassy and hilarious, and the cast of characters surrounding her are well developed and delightful.
Great twists and turns abound!
