Short YA Fantasy Book.

This story is not what I expected but it was still OK. The author jumps in straight away so we don't have to wait a while before the action begins.
I listened to this in one day and it doesn't end on a cliffhanger, but their were certain things left out, so you know there is more books to come.

I thought the narrator did really well and I would look out for other books that she has narrated.

I would recommend this book to those who want to listen to something quick which isn't taxing on the brain.

2 hours long, and hardly a second wasted.

Lets be honest, 2 hours is not a lot of time to build a fantasy world in any real sort of depth. It is so easy to get lost in the way a worlds magic works or the politics that I cant think of many I have read under 8 hours. Morgon Newquist seems to have sidestepped all of that and simply said, hey check it out I have a story with freakin dragons in it.........and well it kind of really works for Morgon. The book opens up with a Librarian finding her day going somewhat astray as a dragon bursts through the wall like the worlds most terrifying koolaid man, and honestly if that doesn't get your attention I simply don't know what will. Most of the book is byplay between herself and a warrior, which is both humorous and endearing.

The one gripe I have over this book is that it is short as all hell and is the longest book in the whole "tales of the school of spells and war" series. The others being an hour 38minutes, 38 minutes and 30 minutes. I would love to listen to more of it and enjoy the characters more but like....really...30 minutes.....really?

I guess over all it was a fun book that didn't overstay its welcome, just don't hope for too much more.

I received this book in return for an honest and fair review.

Good!

I really enjoyed this short YA paranormal story! Good narration! Wish the story was a bit longer but the author did a good job of fitting a lot into a short story!

That’s the good thing about libraries....

...they’ll always be there. Isn’t that true for all book lovers? I got this book free in exchange for an honest review. My honest assessment is that this isn’t really my type of tale. BUT if you like slightly romantic adventure, you really will love this.

The story is a great length in my opinion. I listened to it all at once which helps maintain fluidity. It is well-written and narrated excellently.

Fast moving and full of dragons

When dragons attack the magical university, the shields are put up. Which shouldn't happen, because dragons haven't been seen in centuries. Unfortunately for university librarian Alis, she ends up being stuck outside the shield with a warrior. A warrior who wants to not run away form the dragons but drag her with him into their den.

Morgon Newquist uses the less than two hours running time well, setting up the characters, the situation and the tension all deftly and without missing a beat. The two main characters are fairly well defined, with enough variation from the standard 'wizard' and 'warrior' tropes to give them personality. The story moves briskly from one plot point to another, cramming a whole lot of information and adventure in, but also giving the world enough depth that that it doesn't feel two dimensional.

The action is well done and engaging. The whole short story plays a little with sexual tension between the two. Opposites attract and all that, and it brings it to reasonably satisfying point at the end. Certainly a more satisfying and interesting end then I feared it would be.

Narration by Meghan Crawford is good. It is well paced and easy to follow. My initial thought was "wow, she sounds young." with a sound that would work better for a younger characters. But that passed quickly and she settled into the role well. It was really only on the introduction that it sounded off, but the main narration was good.

Crawford engages the text well, imparting emotion and emphasis as required. She doesn't really do different voices for the characters, but there is a slight change in intonation and it's never difficult to tell who is speaking or what is going on.

A Very Good Start

The story of this book is actually pretty good the author and especially the narrator had me engrossed the whole time. towards the end of the story I was hoping for more characters but just within this 2 hour story it felt like I listened to a cohesive story.

Note to author the art work on this book is what got me to buy this, I've noticed a lack of fantasy art on others almost past them thinking it's a different series.
If you can also bundle your other 3 works into 1 I'm game like what you started.

Delightful Story

I really liked the way the story progressed. The train of thought was consistent, and the situations were well linked.
The narrator expresses real involvement in the storyline.
I would recommend this for ages 14+
It really demands to be continued at least 4 more books that should be at least 6 hrs long

I volunteered to listen to this audiobook and do freely give my opinion and evaluation

Dragons, Knights, Sorcerers, and other Thingies!

This short story is about a young librarian and a knight that meet face-to-face with a dragon and are thrown into a series of events which eventually leads them to meeting another interesting foe. Parts of the story are very creative and I appreciated them as such. However, the story's characters are quite shallow and I kept wanting to relate to the characters more. some of this impression may have come from the narration which to me come across more like a reading. I may have gotten more out of the story had the narration been a bit more mature and exercised with different voices and characterizations.

Way too short but pretty good for what it is

I was given this free review copy audio book at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

My biggest criticism is that this book is FAR too short. I mean, it's a stand alone book that is not even 2 hours long. That being said, it was an engaging and well narrated book. I just wish it was a full length story so there was more time for character/world building, because I really like this author's style.
