Publisher's summary
Kat Richardson’s New York Times best-selling Greywalker novels star one of the genre’s most fascinating—and fan-favorite—heroines: PI Harper Blaine. In her sixth adventure, Harper travels to the Olympic Peninsula for a pre-trial investigation. There she meets the spirit of a man who claims he was murdered. Harper’s search for answers leads her to a resort the locals call Blood Lake. A malevolent power lurks beneath its frosty waters along with a cadre of other hellish beings—all being controlled by a group of sinister mages. Soon Harper is risking her life to prevent them from continuing their dark plans.

Taylor is the name, John Taylor. My card says I'm a detective, but what I really am is an expert on finding lost things. It's part of the gift I was born with as a child of the Nightside. I left there a long time ago, with my skin and sanity barely intact. Now I make my living in the sunlit streets of London. But business has been slow lately, so when Joanna Barrett showed up at my door, reeking of wealth, asking me to find her runaway teenage daughter, I didn't say no.

Story
On the outside, Dina Demille is the epitome of normal. She runs a quaint Victorian Bed and Breakfast in a small Texas town, owns a Shih Tzu named Beast, and is a perfect neighbor, whose biggest problem should be what to serve her guests for breakfast. But Dina is...different: Her broom is a deadly weapon; her Inn is magic and thinks for itself. Meant to be a lodging for otherworldly visitors, the only permanent guest is a retired Galactic aristocrat who can’t leave the grounds because she’s responsible for the deaths of millions and someone might shoot her on sight.

Story
We're the D'Artigo sisters: Half-human, half-Faerie, we are savvy - and sexy - operatives for the Otherworld Intelligence Agency. But our mixed-blood heritage short-circuits our talents at all the wrong times. My sister Delilah shapeshifts into a tabby cat whenever she's stressed. Menolly's a vampire who is still trying to get the hang of being undead. And me? I'm Camille - a wicked-good witch. Except my magic is as unpredictable as the weather, which my enemies are about to find out the hard way.

And he would have gotten away with it, too, if it weren't for those meddling kids.

Story
Ben McKelvie believes he's moving up in the world when he and his fiancée buy a house in the cushy Washington, DC, suburb of Barcroft. Instead he's moving down - way down - thanks to Madeleine Roux, the crazy neighbor whose vermin-infested property is a permanent eyesore and looming hazard to public health. First Ben's fiancée leaves him; then his dog dies, apparently killed by a predator drawn into Barcroft by Madeleine's noxious menagerie. But the worst is yet to come for Ben.

Another excellent entry in the Greywalker series
I especially liked the remote setting full of quirky characters and mystery. Most of the book is minus the usual secondary characters (except for Chaos, the ferret, and Quentin, the geeky love interest, who is secure enough to let Harper do all the a** kicking.) Anyone who has enjoyed the previous entries in this series should enjoy this one. Would have liked a bit more juxtaposition from the last book to this one, but still an enjoyable read.

love this series and the narrator!
one good story after another. in the beginning I felt as though I was dealing with a repeat on other authors I have read. but the narrator pulls you into the characters and makes you fall in love.

Second half audio had issues on my player
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
Issues with my player led to a return.
What didn’t you like about Mia Barron’s performance?
Male voices are too nasal. Pacing change near the second half.

Mediocre
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
I've listened to most in the series and this one has to be the most mundane of them all. If you miss this one you don't miss anything as it was just one of those nothing happening books. I still can't stand the narration in this series

Getting complicated
I don’t really understand why Harper is weakened but her ferret stays sensitive. Quinton obviously cares for Harper deeply but was “ghost” through most of this tale. I get Harper is a PI and he is a genius on the lam and am glad they get to collaborate but it seems like danger will always surround Harper.

Continued Awesomeness
I continue to enjoy this series the protagonist Harper is a fun character to follow around. I love that her cases involve both mystery and the supernatural. The whole series is super bingeable. I usually only read one or two books in a series during a year, but I am already on #6 and looking forward to #7. I thought the case Harper tackled this time was super interesting and I loved that it took place outside of her usual haunts. The continued evolution of her and Quentin's relationship is one of my favorite parts of each book. Can't wait for the next one!

If you like ferrets...this book is for you!
I usually love the greywalker books, but this one was thin on story. So thin that the author included WAY too much information about Harper's ferret. After a while I thought it might be a National Geographic show on ferrets. And that might have been more interesting. And don't get me started on the narrator. Good grief. Bad, bad, bad. I've never bought a greywalker book as an audiobook. I won't waste my money again.
