About this listen

"I'm sorry, hatchling. You are an outcast. You must learn to overcome on your own...."

Such was the welcome the young, nameless Copper dragon received upon breaking free of his shell. Crippled while battling his brother for dominance in the nest, he is all but ignored and discarded by his mother and father - the last of a dying breed. Forced to fend for himself, he learns the hard lessons of survival. When he's captured by vengeful dwarves, he buys his own life with the lives of those who rejected him - and pays a price he never imagined. Fleeing his guilt, the Copper finds himself far from all he knows. Rescued by unlikely, bloodthirsty saviors, he makes an extraordinary trek to the last bastion of free dragonkind. In this secret civilization, he finds a new family. They too are wary of the crippled, wild-bred dragon, but this time he's determined to prove himself equal to any enemy, on four legs or two, from the highest mountaintop to the deepest cave, as he pits his strength, wit, and courage in a contest for the survival---and domination---of dragonkind itself.

Honestly, Copper is my favorite character, the underdog gets second chance, that he deserved!

Outcast shows heart.

The Copper’s story is the best so far. I enjoyed the first two- but the first seemed more about shock factor, and the second kind of a spin-off.
But this was well written and compelling. Didn’t know where it was going the whole time.

Best of them all so far

Where does Dragon Outcast rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

It was probably a middle read for me out of the books I have listened to I enjoy the series which is why I listened to it else I wouldn't have just because of the dislike to the character, but the author does a great job making the outcast a more likable character if you hadn't read the initial books of series you would like him a lot.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I ingeneral like the main character the outcast but the bats really helped me along in the story Thernadad

Which scene was your favorite?

My favorite scene is when the outcast makes it to the the I elieve second battlefield and won't give up on injured dragons even though the rest think they are just meant to die and he stands up for them and helps to save the battle and those dragons lives

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The scene I described above which is why its my favorite

Better than expected

Book in the Dragaon series about the least likable character but E.E. Knight was able to show his redeeming qualities. Darker of all the novels but not scary.

Cripple and lame I may seem but you will soon learn it is a mistake to underestimate me. (Cooper’s Proverb). At least in my humble opinion…

I’m not dead yet!

Perfect story on why you should not judge unless you have walked a mile in the same shoes. This is my favorite book of the series. As always the narration is great. The story pulled me in and made me cheer for every win the Copper achieved.

A great tale of a under dog, er.. under dragon

Of the original clutch on the egg shelf in Dragon Champion, the one we always wondered about, the Copper with a maimed front leg is the subject of this installment. Oh to what levels we sink when desperate enough and then some of us find the grit to climb back up.
The Copper, unnamed by his parents due to being outcast, survives the treachery he caused in the Lair to go deep, deep under the Earth. His diet became a collection of unmentionables, he kept the company of disgusting bats, he hid under the prows of Dwarven river boats and escaped into a land ruled by his own kind...The Lava Dome.
The Tyre adopts him and names him after a well regarded ancestor. He gains title, respect after a fashion and even finds love while overcoming life's...disabilities. Then he is ambushed by treachery again and must become a leader.
If I've managed to spoil anything for you in these three paragraphs then you should really stop reading reviews. I'm giving this a four out of five. I may be impatient but I'm ready for the surviving siblings to meet as adults. This series is fun, action packed and the story is vividly told with descriptive language leaving you reaching to wipe at imaginary Dragon droppings. Enjoy!
