About this listen

He’s the most powerful man in Dublin, and he’ll do anything to keep what’s his.

My name is Madelaine Moneta and I am a survivor. I fought my way up from the streets of Chicago to claim a spot at one of the top-tier criminal defense practices in the city, but when the looming shadow of the local mob threatens to engulf the firm, I make a life-altering decision.

Carrying my mother’s ashes, I escape to Ireland, intent on starting anew in my mother’s homeland.

Dublin seems the perfect place to reinvent myself until Tag Quinn—a dark and dangerous charmer at the local pub—sets his sights on me.

Tag Quinn is trouble. As leader of the Quinn family, he’s the King of the Irish Mafia.

Performance was great, a fun listen

I love the idea of this book and the performance by Joe and Mia was great but I feel like the story needed to be expanded on. I would have like to seen the characters have a longer connection rather than instalove. It was still a fun listen and left on a bit of a cliffhanger so I'll continue with the other brothers stories.

3.5 STAR OK PLOT WITH GREAT NARRATION

I really enjoyed the duet-style narration which was expertly voice acted by Mia and Joe whose perfect Irish brogue was excellent as he brought Irish Boss Tag Quinn and his three brothers to life. The storyline was ok.. very insta, very quick (spans only 1 month) and not very deep.. but still enjoyable nonetheless. I didn’t think the story was dark at all - just a woman escaping her husband and the dangers he brought to their door.. fleeing to Ireland and landing in the arms of the one man who can protect her when trouble comes a calling. Handsome, sexy and possessive.. Joe’s narration really elevates Tag’s charm - and the storyline. But Tag has problems of his own too.

Worth a credit? For me this was a first with these two authors and the story was Mafia Lite but entertaining enough. It’s an easy-listen and a decent start to the Emerald Isle Mafia series where the secondary characters and plotline will carry over as each brother gets his own story. I don’t regret the purchase but it could’ve spanned longer than a month, been a bit darker, have more build-up to the romance and be a little spicier too. So it depends on what you’re looking for I guess 🤷🏻‍♀️.

Wanted to love this more..

The whole story and plot moves very quickly and I was left wanting more. This could have been exceptional if there was more details more character building. The timeline that takes place is extremely short and with all that takes place seems unrealistic. I pre ordered this based on the description and was excited for it but disappointed after listening.
I love Joe Arden and he always bring his A game and did fantastic job with MMC I have never listened to Mia Madison before and for me she made the FMC seem so fake she just didn't add to the book. There was no emotional voice behind her she was just reading the lines and even being a duet with Joe Arden he couldn't make up for how much she lacked voicing the FMC. If the FMC narration was better I think I would have liked it much more and could get past the issues I have with the storyline. I am just so disappointed and wish I hadn't wasted a credit on this one.
