About this listen

With her inspired works, acclaimed author Grace Lin has earned a Geisel Honor and a Newbery Honor. In Dumpling Days, Pacy’s family travels to Taiwan for a month. This is Pacy’s first trip to Taiwan, so she’s extremely excited. But soon, she realizes that everything about this trip is difficult: speaking the language, following her art teacher’s directions—even making friends. Fortunately, it’s not long before Pacy sees that the trip isn’t all bad—and that the family bonding that occurs makes everything else worthwhile.

Wonderful Story

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

My seven-year-old loves this book. She read it first, but now she enjoys listening to it over and over because the narrator uses excellent voices for the different characters and pronounces the Chinese words. We highly recommend it!

What about Angela Lin’s performance did you like?

Voices and Chinese pronunciation make this a wonderful listen.

I really want dumplings now 🥟 🥟 🥟

I absolutely loved this book after the first two chapters! 😍 But I wasn’t very fond of the narration because she made Kiki sound like a two year old and sometimes Pacy’s voice sounded a lot like Lissy’s. :/ But the book itself was really good and now I kind of want to go to Taiwan and try all of their foods! 😂

New narrator

It’s annoying when a series switches narrators—I already have the characters’ voices set in my head. This narrator is fine and even sounds a little like Grace, but she makes the little sister unbearable (and makes her sound like she’s a preschooler). I didn’t like the story as much as the first two, but I can’t tell if it’s the narrator or the writing (or both).
