About this listen

Summer camp is one of the cruelest tortures parents can inflict on their children. At least that’s how Max feels when he is sent off to Camp Wedgiehaha. For two weeks, he and his best friend, Sam, will be stuck in the middle of the wilderness with Bart Johnson, the bully of Filmore Middle School. They have to find a way to survive swarms of biting insects, practical jokes, and a wedgie war if they are every going return to civilization and their video games again.

Summer = Freedom NOT!

Like all middle school-age students, Max sees the summer as FREEDOM - what should be a sleep late, be lazy time where one can hang with friends and do nothing. Then his parents send him off to camp. A camp where his nemesis Bart “the Fart” is going and just to make sure his summer is going to be miserable, his bed is right next to the bathroom door where his unending jokes about … well, you can imagine are fueled.

This is a hilarious tale of summer camp as seen through the eyes of Max. The fun is never-ending! The author, Alisdair Baird, captures the feelings of the students and camp staff as he richly weaves the tale of Max. Baird provides rich detail bringing the story to life and bringing memories of past experiences to the forefront.

Andrew Roberts is the narrator who performs this delightful book. His inflection is perfect for the characters as well as the ease in which the words roll off his tongue. His performance is realistic and genuine. His performance is steady and consistent.

This is a light listen that will have you in stitches!
