About this listen
In this debut middle-grade girl-power friendship story, perfect for fans of Moxie, an eighth grader starts a podcast to protest the unfair dress code enforcement at her middle school and sparks a rebellion.
Molly Frost is fed up....
Because Olivia was yelled at for wearing a tank top.
Because Liza got dress coded and Molly didn't, even though they were wearing the exact same outfit.
Because when Jessica was pulled over by the principal and missed a math quiz, her teacher gave her an F.
Because it's impossible to find shorts that are longer than her fingertips.
Because girls' bodies are not a distraction.
Because middle school is hard enough.
And so Molly starts a podcast where girls can tell their stories, and before long, her small rebellion swells into a revolution. Because now the girls are standing up for what's right, and they're not backing down.

Story
In middle school, words aren't just words. They can be weapons. They can be gifts. The right words can win you friends or make you enemies. They can come back to haunt you. Sometimes they can change things forever. When cell phones are banned at Branton Middle School, Frost and his friends Deedee, Wolf, and Bench come up with a new way to communicate: leaving sticky notes for each other all around the school. It catches on, and soon all the kids in school are leaving notes - though for every kind and friendly one, there is a cutting and cruel one as well.

Story
Ever since Ellie wore a whale swimsuit and made a big splash at her fifth-birthday party, she's been bullied about her weight. To cope, she tries to live by the Fat Girl Rules - like "no making waves", "avoid eating in public", and "don't move so fast that your body jiggles". And she's found her safe space - her swimming pool - where she feels weightless in a fat-obsessed world. In the water, she can stretch herself out like a starfish and take up all the room she wants. It's also where she can get away from her mom, who thinks criticizing Ellie's weight will motivate her to diet.

Some of her friends who live in the city and are bused to her school don’t always feel included. And the mayor isn’t willing to listen to new ideas for fixing it all.

She's not at all happy about having to give up her pretty pink wall-to-wall carpeting for creaky floorboards and creepy secret passageways. Kevin has a big talent. Some might call it compulsive lying. He calls it common sense. Kev doesn’t mean to cause trouble by lying all the time; he’s just trying to make everything easier for everyone (and himself). And, of course, a few harmless, um, falsehoods are crucial to his plan to convince Tina that he’s the perfect boyfriend for her. In Gary Paulsen’s irresistible and chaotic comedy, Kevin’s lies spiral out of control until he’s faced with the need to do the unthinkable: tell the truth.

Coming from the tundra of the north, the beach culture isn’t exactly Waverly’s forte. The sun may just be her mortal enemy, and her vibe is decidedly not chill. To top it off? Perfection
DRESS CODED is one of the best middle grade books I’ve read in recent memory.
Molly Frost, an eighth grader who starts a podcast to expose her middle school’s unfair and overzealous dress code which unfairly targets certain girls.
Molly is a great character and advocate. She isn’t in the fight for the sake of fighting, she just wants the sexist rules to stop. She respectfully tries to work within the system using logic and appealing to her school’s personnel and slowly escalates her efforts with an increasing amount of support from her classmates. At home, she’s dealing with an unkind brother addicted to vaping.
I can’t recommend DRESS CODED enough.

This is probably the most relatable book ever
I love this book it is probably the most relatable book I know because a girl gets her period in class and and put her hoodie around her waist. And the character’s voice on the podcast episodes are really pretty and probably Mach their personality but it is a good book overall I hope you read this book.

My new favorite book
This book is so good I do not even know where to start. The story is a strong, uplifting story about fighting for equality. The characters are instantly likable, and the book is SO relatable for ANY middle schooler that feels self-conscience about how they look. The reading performance was excellent, too! I recommend this to middle school kids everywhere.

This is such a good book
This book is highlighting a lot of middle schools, that I have unfair dress codes, and I get that schools are trying to protect children but some of the things in the schools not OK I really recommend for girls that are going into middle school or going into seventh grade or eighth grade. I think this is a Great book 😜🫶🏻

An AMAZING book
This audiobook was probably one of the most inspirational books I’ve heard or read in a while. I loved how they didn’t stop till they got the dress code removed. I definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a great audiobook.
