About this listen

"Gorgeous writing and page-turning suspense." (Nancy Thayer, New York Times best-selling author of Surfside Sisters)

"A brilliant firecracker of a book...beautiful, heartfelt, and life-affirming." (Emily Henry, New York Times best-selling author of Beach Read)

They share countless perfect memories - and one they wish they could forget.

Childhood friends Hannah, Maya, Blue, and Renee share a bond that feels more like family. Growing up, they had difficult home lives, and the summers they spent together in Montauk were the happiest memories they ever made. Then, the summer after graduation, one terrible night changed everything.

Twelve years have passed since that fateful incident, and their sisterhood has drifted apart, each woman haunted by her own lost innocence. But just as they reunite in Montauk for one last summer escape, hoping to find happiness once more, tragedy strikes again. This time it'll test them like never before, forcing them to confront decisions they've each had to live with and old secrets that refuse to stay buried.

"Readers of Elin Hilderbrand and J. Courtney Sullivan will devour this book." (Brenda Novak, New York Times best-selling author of One Perfect Summer)

It took me a while to get into this one. It’s very character driven which I liked. I enjoyed the evolution of their friendships.

Struggled listening to this narrator. Seemed she can’t take a deep breath to the pace she was reading to the point gave my own breathing tightness. I got through it but it was a struggle.

100% predictable and narration was grating. Not enjoyable. This book is not recommended by me.

This book is essentially about four childhood friends who grow into unhappy women in their own rights. The whole story is surrounded around one event that occurred when they were teenagers. I listened to the audiobook and couldn’t connect to any of the characters or get into the storyline. I was actually shocked at the ending was the ending because it was that anti-climatic. Maybe I’m just grumpy because my view doesn’t match that of most other readers. It just needed more… it was way too drawn out for what ended up happening.

Slow and action-less

This book was boring. The plot was not believable. There was no huge conflict or climax. The characters were very one dimensional.

“She said”

Wasn't a fan of this book, wanted to like it. It felt long and boring at most parts and just overall depressed characters.
