As a deeply authentic and heartfelt collection of harrowing true stories and reflections on sexual trauma, Echoes is a powerful anthology that seeks to shed light on the painful reality faced by male survivors of sexual abuse, along with the lasting mental and emotional scars that so many men carry with them. Told with a raw and gritty tone, this collection draws on the experiences of men from all walks of life, illuminating their silent struggle and the destructive impact that it has on their lives and relationships.

In Echoes, Robert H. Marshall Jr. and other contributing writers delivers a deeply moving and courageous collection of stories that sheds light on one of society’s most under-discussed traumas: the sexual abuse of boys and men. This powerful work is not just a book—it’s a testament to survival, truth-telling, and healing. Each narrative echoes the pain, resilience, and strength of men who were brave enough to confront their pasts and speak out about the abuse they endured as children.
The honesty woven through these pages is nothing short of heroic. These men did more than share stories—they broke silences that have suffocated far too many for far too long. Their voices remind us that healing is possible, even in the face of lifelong wounds, and that vulnerability is not a weakness but a strength.
As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) who works with male survivors of sexual abuse, reading Echoes reaffirmed my commitment to this sacred work. I see the pain, the shame, the silence—but I also see the courage it takes to show up, speak truth, and survive each day. This book is a gift to survivors, clinicians, and anyone with the heart to listen. I am honored to walk alongside these men in their healing journeys, and Echoes serves as both a reminder and a call to continue supporting them with compassion and advocacy.

This magnificent anthropology of true-life accounts of abuse is gutwrenchingly painful to hear, incredibly beautifully narrated, and filled with hope that celebrates the power of doing the work of healing. I applaud these brave, strong, and deeply honest men for the respectful manner their stories are told without the gruesomeness that so easily could have become a focus.
Throughout these stories, insights are appropriately littered between the heartbreaking accounts, that help us self-examine why we behave in ways we are not proud of. I cried, and danced in my living room, listening to these esteemed gentlemen. I danced at their sweet victories and cried at the agonising struggle to claw out of pain never theirs to endure.
This book is a necessary book for every teacher, therapist, politician, pastor, and family to read/ listen to, as we collectively fight against the sad continuance of sexual abuse in both women and men, boys and girls. So too, that we each have a clear understanding of how to love our hurting men into wholeness by giving mercy, educated empathy, and the right love that helps each other not self-victimize.
I HONOUR EACH MAN IN THIS BOOK.
Thank you for teaching me, and bringing me into a global community of survivors, as you reach out into this pandemic of sexual abuse in such a noble, and elegant way.
