About this listen

Elise and Franklin have always been best friends. Elise has always lived in the big house with her loving Uncle and Aunt, because Elise's parents died when she was too young to remember them.

There's always been a barn behind the house with eight locked doors on the second floor. When Elise and Franklin start middle school, things feel all wrong. Bullying. Not fitting in. Franklin suddenly seems babyish. Then, soon after her 12th birthday, Elise receives a mysterious key left for her by her father. A key that unlocks one of the eight doors upstairs in the bar...

Great story and narration.

Exceeded expectations. Great story. Narrated version was very good and maintained my daughters attention. Story was a great basis for testing at the school.

Great book

I loved the book. I do not have any complaints and I want to keep reading it over and over. I bought the book and the auto book and I believe the book is just AWSOME!!!! My friends also agree with me and my whole class thinks it is great too.

Nice

A good audiobook about friends and family! I would recommend this to only tweens or teens because some kids might not understand the stuff: being mean, suspension, death, and friendship breakups. But it’s a feel-good audiobook too! The narration is 5/5!

Moving and sweet.

Wonderful little audio book that covers the themes of friendship, grief, family, love, school, courage, bullying and coming of age in a very sweet and moving story. This worked very well as an audio book and would be equally good as a read aloud

Drags, awful ending, unessesary sub-plots

I found this book quiet dull and I feel like it dragged the whole way. It also didn't come to a good conclusion? so Amanda is just a heartless jerk? Who is Lenord? Did she do anything special with the keys? Did school get much better? how about the locker situation. These questions could have been answered, except for the shaving cream prank, making Amanda worse, when she could have been a good character. the part about the kitten made no sense and came out of nowhere. the reading and audio made the finishing this book bearable. the profirmance was great, 4/5 stars. The story is dull, drags, and could have come to a much better ending, so 1/5 stars. Overall, I would give it 2/5 stars.
