About this listen

Chosen as a sacrificial offering, Athena is left for dead in the cavernous labyrinth of the village beast. With only a smuggled bag of magical spells and a less than complete education in witchcraft, Athena must fight for her life in the cave that no villager before her has returned from alive.

Cute short story

This was a bit of quick fun. I usually prefer longer narratives but this filled a gap of time perfectly.

Cute

Nice for a quick, easy listen. Narration was nothing spectacular, but wasn't annoying either. Just very low key.

Modern day princess story

Clearly this is written for kids of our time cleverly combined with ancient motives. How can even the most scary monster be defeated and why we keep making sacrifices.
The protagonist is not a hero or a prince but a heroine who does not need to be saved she does it for herself with a bit of cooperation. The story is short enough to "read" it in an afternoon or fall asleep in the middle at bedtime.

It is lively narrated, well voiced, making the the tale come alive.

Very cute story

I enjoyed the book. This author definitely has a delightful sense of humor. It would be fun for kids to listen to and I think most adults would still like it too. The only downside was that the narrator’s performance is a little bit wooden.

This is very short, but fun. seems like the good beginnings of a series. I'm down.

Short and sweet

Cute little story, nothing ground breaking but if you need something to listen to while folding a load of laundry, this fits the bill.

When you’ve been manhandled & sacrificed all day

Fun tale of four kids tossed into a pit as sacrifice to a monster. Athena may not be a princess, but she’s got moxie and just enough witch training to lead the way out. There’s a few great lessons on judging folks by appearances, using critical thinking, and having a positive attitude, all smoothly delivered in a captivating and breezy listen. No profanity, violence, sex, politics, or religion... except for a minor bias against witches and rumors of past monster shenanigans. Fit for kids of any age.

A Cute Little Short Story

This was a cute little short story that takes a traditional plot and turns it on its head. It was well worth a listen.
