About this listen

Ghosts of the Network

When the digital and the dead intersect, Elliot finds himself caught in a cybernetic web of the past.

Guided by ghosts with unfinished stories, a young genius battles to control the digital streams that anchor them to this world. Each line of code leads deeper into a labyrinth of deceit, ancient secrets, and spectral whispers.

Born into an ancient and powerful family, Henry is committed by birth and blood to a role he refuses to accept. Fighting to escape his predestined position, his journey entwines with Elliot's as they navigate the uncharted corridors of reality where the digital dead speak.

Join them in a world where every keystroke uncovers deeper mysteries and the echoes of the past reach into the future.

I love the whole series, and getting this backstory was icing on the cake. Well written and narrated, and can't wait for the next one!

This book really ties everything together!

I’m a huge fan of the series and have registered to many of the first 10 books multiple times. I’d been looking forward to this origin story of Elliot and the families for awhile, but it seems like something was off in this one. Like all the players were there and the melody plays a part in the rise of computers, but the characters feel hollow. Don’t get me wrong, I can understand how after so many books something is bound to give and trying to tie in these bigger underlying elements to define these other dimensions or realities or times takes o er at the expense of real heart. It’s odd that the character that felt most real and human was Josh. It took a few tries to complete the book, while others have kept me up into the wee hours to finish. That said, if you’re this far into the series (and this review) then it’s worth getting this one to have the complete story.

a little too much over explaining you don't need to count the seconds between the dialing of the phone call

the book is life

The editing was terrible, often the last half syllable of words is cut off and there were even a few name errors where the narrator called the character a similar but different name. As for the story itself, it was all build up with practically zero culmination, I realize this is a branch of of the game is life series, but it's also what that series has become. The first few books were exceptional, everything since has just been more complicating and build up with no questions answered, no continuity, and just feels like a money grab from the fans that want to see the series conclude. Very disappointed in what it seems to have become and where the story has led, or not led.

Aside from the name and bottle caps, virtually zero connection to the game is life series
