About this listen

An action-packed new Isekai LitRPG adventure from KamikazePotato, best-selling author of An Outcast in Another World.

A new world. A unique power. He can reshape his surroundings.

Adam isn't isn't even given the chance to lick his wounds after a deep betrayal before a mysterious force pulls him into into a new, fantastical world.

He doesn't mind much. Penniless, luckless, and aimless, Adam wasn't particularly fond of his old world anyway. Maybe this can be the fresh start he needs.

First, he'll have to deal with being attacked by shadowy monsters, imprisoned by guardsmen, and pressed into service by the resident nobility.

But unlike Earth...he's not entirely powerless.

In this realm, he has a strange ability with the potential to turn his surroundings into a canvas he can mold and control.

It's time to take matters into his own hands. It's time create a future worth living.

Experience this brand new Isekai LitRPG adventure from KamikazePotato, the best-selling author of An Outcast in Another World, together with Rafael Kalleen.

About the Series: Join Adam in this weak-to-strong progression fantasy where victories are difficult but earned. The plot has consistent forward momentum, and the story's cast of characters is fully fleshed-out, each with their own struggles. Fight scenes are high-octane brawls that involve creative applications of Adam's abilities.

If the review title doesn’t sound appealing, this book might not be for you. There were some things I definitely liked. But I hated the occasional forays into “purple prose.” And the author/MC ‘s high opinion of themselves swinging into a nihilistic and suicidally depressed viewpoint and back again.

I’m on the fence about whether or not I’ll read the next one. But I definitely won’t buy the next audiobook.

The preview of “good guy necromancer” at the end does have my interest though.

I enjoyed listening to the story. It seemed like a great story. It did a great job at presenting an interesting story that did not fall into the normal tropes that most fantasy type stories fall into.

Great Story

I really liked this book… like really liked it and that’s not a surprise. I also really enjoyed his last series, I found Adam to be pretty relatable actually and all the characters felt interesting and well flushed out. It is a bit in the slower side in terms of pacing but that’s actually something I really enjoyed. If you need constant action this might not be the best story for you but if you like a slow build with complex characters interesting worldbuilding and a plot that keeps you guessing then this is most certainly for you. I’ll definitely be keeping my eyes open for the next installment. At first listen I wouldn’t have thought Wayne the best choice for this book but as usual he makes the high parts really really high and that definitely purely serves this story best.

A very rare 5

I just couldn't appreciate the narrator- WAY too over dramatic for my taste and if I heard "courtier" mispronounced one more time...sigh. It just takes you out of the story. I also didn't like how the relationship between Adam and Eric was not explained or how Eric got there - just felt it should have been done by the end of book one. And was Eric drunk the entire time? He sure sounded like it! I just didn't find Adam very likeable either. Seemed like a walking pity party too much of the time.

I love the author's Outcast series and had high hopes for this to be just as entertaining and humorous, but I am not sure I could get through book 2 with this narrator (sorry dude).

Interesting idea. I envisioned something very different from what I got. The skill was a lot more complex and slower acting than I thought it would be. The setting involved a lot of politics which was a nice change or pace. The narration was really good.

Great start!

Made it to chapter ten, then returned it. It’s just not enjoyable, It’s like everyone involved is on the path to narcissism.

Just can’t get into it

Ohhhh! Myyy! That was Interesting! Might I say it was som'min else! I've never run into it's ilk before! But I loved it! And wouldn't you expect that someone that had the balls to go by the moniker KamikazePotato would come up with this novel storyline... not only surprising and new but with kinda different sorta magic system. And one that really works. Yeah, there's still a core and mana, but to level up you hafta spend money 💰 the more you spend the stronger you get. And we're not talkin about a few bucks, oh no, more like thousands, tens of thousands.
And this is Adam's story, the starving art student trying to balance his tuition fees and cost of living. If only he'd won the contest with his painting 😪 losing to Eric a supposed friend... well it was a hard punch to the gut. Since he knew sleep wasn't gonna happen he ended up at a shop looking at their gallery again. To his amazement he spotted a new painting, it was magical and to no one's surprise it sucked him into the World of Paint.
And what Adam does next is for you to find out when you grab the audiobook! Because Wayne Mitchell is worth listening to.

I like that the premise is very different than many LitRPGs. I like the author and really wanted to dig this one. But the narrator is quite awful.

Potential

The synapse sounded great and the idea had a very good chance of being something special but the actual story was mah at best world building was lack luster, MC was all over the place and not really inspiring not to mention that while his power seem like they would be good his use of it is a joke

Great premise terrible execution

the idea and world concept is neat and original. the MC is one hair toss away from being completely emo. I'm halfway through and starting to use the skip to get through sections of him inner dialogue. the logic is also suspected in a lot of sections to.

cool concept, awful writing
