About this listen

Identifying emotional abuse - are you a victim?

In order to avoid getting stuck in an emotionally abusive relationship, you'll first need to identify the signs of emotional abuse. This book will help you see the red flags, and to get out of potential relationships where emotional abuse is at play.

Most people only think of the physical aspects of abuse, but emotional abuse can be just as painful. Emotional abuse, or psychological abuse, is a little more subtle and can be harder to detect. All of us can fall victim to it in our relationships, and its signs may be clouded by other emotions, particularly if these relationships are with people we love and care for genuinely.

This book on emotional abuse reveals:

  • many details of what the personality of an emotionally abusive person looks like
  • what a relationship is like when there is emotional abuse present
  • how being emotionally abused effects you

A few results of being abused from this book:

clinical depression, anxiety, or being in a constant state of fearfulness
  • impaired sleeping patterns
  • impaired cognitive abilities
  • lack of motivation to achieve or accomplish goals
  • loss of desire to connect with others
  • anger or bouts of rage, frustration, or irritability
  • the sudden loss of interest in activities that were once pleasurable
  • hostile behavior, or passive-aggressiveness
  • emotional instability
  • a negative outlook on life and the world
  • an increase in interpersonal problems and conflicts
  • estrangement from family and friends
  • feelings of worthlessness and low levels of self-esteem

If you are being mistreated and you find yourself believing that you deserve all of it, then you are likely a victim of emotional abuse. Abusers like to degrade their partner's self-image and self-worth.

Helpful content

Although the narration was difficult to listen to, I thought this was great information. I would recommend it to someone curious if they're in the early stages of abuse or in the thick of it. It was good to review, especially having already studied it in depth while going through it with various partners previously and wanting a quick refresher. The details of different types of emotional and psychological abuse was very helpful.

Prevention is the best medicine

What really stuck with me about this was the focus on staying out of an abusive relationship by recognizing it early.

So much literature on this focuses on how to get out once you're already in a bad relationship. This actually helps you recognize the warning signs so you can avoid one in the first place.

Life changing if recieved

I highly recommend this book for the abuser and the victim. I was the abuser and i wish i would have read this book before my wife left. But it is a lesson well learned. This book has compelled me to seek help with diligence until wholeness takes place.

Thank You! Merry Heart
