Publisher's summary

I'm Vanessa Barsetti, the daughter of the infamous Crow Barsetti.

My father taught me how to fight. If a man lays a hand on me, I'll put him in his grave. As a Barsetti, I'm proud, stubborn, and don't take nonsense from anybody.

I walk home from a bar and take the wrong path.

And witness a brutal crime.

The murderer won't let me go. He's handsome, lethal, and terrifying. With tattoos on his forearms and a presence full of threat, he's a shade of evil I've never encountered. And then he tells me the most terrifying thing of all.

His name is Bones.

EXPLOSIVE AND SO FREAKIN GOOD

This time its Crow and Buttons daughter Vanessa who gets entangled in a desperate push/pull relationship with a sworn enemy when she accidentally witnesses Bones doing what he does best and what he is paid to do.. killing someone. It was an accidental meeting.. Vanessa was in the wrong place at the worst time.. however, Bones took the opportunity and grabbed her with the sole intention of humiliating her, videoing her and ultimately killing her on camera to send to Crow as revenge for his father. But, when Vanessa shows she is tough and determined to survive by fighting him at every chance, lines get blurred and things get hot and emotionally very complicated.

I love the way Penelope Sky writes.. she draws you into an instantly addictive dark and twisted story of hate and passion.. and she makes you intrigued by a sexy dangerous alpha anti-hero who you know you shouldnt like but whose backstory has you warming, melting, forgiving, routing and ultimately falling for. However, we are not there yet with the merciless Bones as this ends on a cliffhanger.. and even then it will take ten more books before all the Barsetti family members get their HEA ending.. thankfully they are all written and should be released monthly. This book has explosive chemistry, palpable tension, sensual scenes, angst, suspense and sex (no rape) as Bones and Vanessa tentatively reach an agreement.. a deadly pact.. and a tumultuous relationship that is promised to end in bloodshed.

Worth a credit? Definitely YES.. I have loved each and every thrilling book in the Lingerie series and I always crave the next dual POV instalment because I know its going to be epic and awesome. Great narration brings this riveting storyline to life and ensures its a 5 star listen.

Bones & Vanessa

*****Spoiler Alert*****

Audible review. Dual POV. Lingerie Series Book 5 of 15. There is so much more story to tell for this couple, it ended far too soon. Narrated in an average American accent even though both characters were born and raised in Italy; Michael's narration makes it seem like he's bored with the story. Trigger warnings: kidnapping; murders; bondage.

Vanessa witnesses Bones murder a man, he then takes & drugs her, he dumps the body of the man he killed, Vanessa shoots Bones in the arm, he has her stitch up his wound, Bones tells Vanessa that both her aunt and mom had been his dad's slaves, that his mom killed his dad and that now he would kill her but he couldn't do it. Bones put a tracker in Vanessa's ankle. He promises not to touch any of her family members as long as she doesn't tell them about what he's done to her and continues to be his. Vanessa and family spend Christmas together, she talks to Crow (her father) about dropping out of school and selling her paintings at the winery. When she returns to her home Bones takes her to one of his other houses where he set up a room for her to paint, takes a pic of her in lingerie and then demands that she paint it for him. He left her in his home while he went to "work" (he's a hitman). Vanessa completes the painting of herself, realizes he wanted it to remember her by after he kills her, she takes it to her own apartment and prepares to shoot him, Bones returns, she tries to kill him but can't pull the trigger, he shows her that it wasn't loaded. Great book!

This book and the first book in the lingerie series are my favorite. Some of the books in the Lingerie series are a little redundant and closely resemble the Buttons series which I really enjoyed.

Great Read

Loved it. Couldn't stop listening. Passionate , steamy.... It's amazing how much a person's past can shape their future.... Even strong people have their weaknesses and need encouragement and support.

Disappointed

The first four books were amazing so I had high hopes for this next story in the series. However, the woman narrator had an awful male impersonation and she herself sounded so monotone. I had a hard time paying attention. Also felt like the story was boring! I just wan't happy with this one at all and debating reading the next book :(

Please don't waste your money

First, let me say this series starts off okay but left me in a bad mood. First off, I liked the Buttons series and even thought the Muse series was good. HOWEVER, this new addition is a complete rip off. The story is divided into FIVE books when it could have been two or even three books, a TOTAL RIP OFF and completely disrespectful to the readers, shame on you Ms. Sky. The main characters are weak and quite insipid, particularly Vanessa. For someone who is portrayed as strong in book one, I hated her and every single member or her family by the end of the series.

Now, my review. If you liked the Buttons and Muse series, then don't read this series. By the end of it, you will hate every single main character you encountered in the other books. They are hypocritical and completely selfish and their reaction to Vanessa and Bone's relationship is so off the chart it made me sick. Firstly, Every single male character in those other series held the main female character against her will in some form or another. Yet, Crow points a gun at Bones when Bones did the same. What was even more ludicrous was Conway's reaction to Vanessa's grief. He pretty much called her childish and told her to get over herself, yet, by the end of the series, he was telling Conner to do the same sh*t that he was mad at Bones for doing to Vanessa. It made no sense!

Overall, I found this series a COMPLETE disappointment. Most of the books didn't even have anything resembling a real conflict and before Vanessa and Bone's story ended, Conner and Mia's story began, taking up most of the last book. Vanessa and Bone's relation was drawn out with 3 - 5 page long sex scenes every few pages. The relationship went in circles and very little character development took place.

I won't be reading anything from this author again until she stops this greedy madness of forcing her readers to pay for a bunch of novellas when the story should be one or two novels. Don't waste your credit or money.

What happened?

I absolutely loved Buttons and Lace. Read and listen to the series multiple times. I thought this would be great the son of Bones and the daughter of Crow and Buttons. I stopped half way through chapter 4. It is porn without a plot. Now I have nothing against a good porn but this is like 1970 laughable eye rolling obvious porn. I prefer dark romaces but this is not that. The narrators are good but not great and do nothing for the story.

Run the other direction.
