About this listen

In the late 19th century, Father Charles Arminjon, a priest from the mountains of southeastern France, assembled his flock in the town cathedral to preach a series of conferences to help them turn their thoughts away from this life's mean material affairs - and toward the next life's glorious spiritual reward. His wise and uncompromising words deepened in them the spirit of recollection that all Christians must have: the abiding conviction that heavenly aims, not temporal enthusiasms, must guide everything we think, say, and do.

When Father Arminjon's conferences were later published in a book, many others were able to reap the same benefit - including 14-year-old Therese Martin, then on the cusp of entering the Carmelite convent in Lisieux. Reading it, she says, "plunged my soul into a happiness not of this earth." Young Therese, filled with a sense of "what God reserves for those who love him, and seeing that the eternal rewards had no proportion to the light sacrifices of life", copied out numerous passages and memorized them, "repeating unceasingly the words of love burning in my heart."

Let The End of the Present World and the Mysteries of the Future Life fill you with the same burning words of love, with the same ardent desire to know God above all created things, that St. Therese gained from them.

I stumbled upon this by accident, and I’m glad I did! This book very clearly articulates Catholic teaching - both doctrine and teachings that aren’t clarified in doctrine or scripture but that don’t conflict with either. A great classic for anyone interested in Catholic teachings on the End of the World and the Second Coming of Christ.

Excellent and Clear Catholic Interpretation of the End of Time

Educational and inspirational. Not many books are as clear on the subject. Fr Arminjon makes me long to become a Saint, to achieve final beatitude.

This must have been instrumental in Saint Therese declaration of sending down flowers from heaven.

Fr. Aminjon extremely wise and erudite! He puts prophecy and Church tradition together in a way that must have been guided by the Holy Spirit. He has predicted our times and beyond; I can't believe he lived in the 19th century! Before the TV & internet...and it is really obvious that this technology will be part of the fulfillment of prophecy. This audio is a must have for Catholics and even other Christians!!! I can see why St. Therese was so inspired. I will write more when I am finished... But so far I am astonished and this is one of the most epic books I have read lately. It also pairs well with a recent read titled "The Age of Catastrophe" in Culture Wars magazine (June 2020 Issue). Get this book! I can't believe I'm not done and so excited to hear the rest, already it has been more than worth what I paid for it.

Prophetic. Has predicted our times and beyond.

This book's chapters were written as sermons. For years it was on my shelf as something "I should get to sometime." Then it became available as audio and it was a very beneficial listening.

This one was made to be listened to
