Publisher's summary

Beauty and perfection come at a price...

Abducted and thrust into a court obsessed with perfection, scarred Sage Ramses’ dream of peace and happiness is no longer a possibility. An ancient creature of darkness rules the land along with a people that are no longer human, and she’s forced to learn how to survive despite her inadequacies.

Caught between his duties to his kingdom and his duties to his heart, Tehl scrambles to discover where Sage has been taken. When deadly secrets are revealed, he finds himself negotiating with the very monsters that threaten Sage and the land of Aermia.

Every choice Tehl makes seems to be the wrong one, leaving Sage close to death and the kingdom at risk of invasion, but help comes from an unexpected ally and a hefty price tag. Peace is never free, and pretty faces can’t always conceal twisted desires. In a warped game with the Scythians only one side can prevail, and this time, Sage might lose.

Two sides. One goal: Save Aermia.

Sage is awesome

Sage has her plate full with this crazy guy!! She is kidnapped and taken to a court of psycho flawless men that feel the females are only meant to breed as long as they are pure. Tell will go to any lengths to get his wife back. Sage is almost to the end of her reality and almost ready to just give up.

She makes it back to Tell and the Aermian side of the river where her husband and team are waiting to pick up her torn fragile mind and show her she is truly loved,

Looking forward to other titles by Frost Kay.

Smashing tale, couldn't put down!

The storyline, plot, and characters are very well thought out and described. The MC is a strong woman with moments of doubt and weakness, which many can relate to in real life. I love that! The love aspect is a definite slow burn of realization and this story was wonderfully crafted. The narrators did a fabulous job in my opinion, and I like that they brought on a male narrator for this book. They executed different voices well and it was easy listening. I recommend this series and especially this book!

So Good!

I have loved this series from the first book and have been wanting to dive in with the audio as a chance to reread the series and let me tell you, it doesn't disappoint! I love the narrators and how they bring the characters to life. This is one of my favorite books in the series because you can see just how strong Sage is with all that she goes through at the hands of the warlord. She is so strong and comes out stronger in the end. She and Tehl have an amazing story and I love that story so flipping much. I can't wait to listen to the next book.
