Publisher's summary

Marcus Cade had to cross 800 lonely light-years to Earth so he could begin searching for his beloved wife.

But he was broke, and his spaceship badly needed an overhaul. So he traded his one-of-a-kind Gyroc rifle to a stingy and half-mad mechanic for a cheap fix and a Nion XT Navigator. When Cade went to sleep during the journey, the traitorous nav performed its secret function, bringing his ship to a rift, through a vortex and into the web of an extraterrestrial conspiracy.

Cade was not amused, not one damn bit. Meaning, the aliens might have gotten more than they bargained for, as Cade was a super-soldier and a hard-bitten survivor from the Old Federation. He launched a one-man crusade, determined to rip their pocket universe apart or die trying, so he could escape and continue to search for his dearest Raina.

Sharp right into its own universe

I doubt I could have guessed the direction of this plot had I been given a million years. Again, superb narration by Marc Vietor. In summary, being low on funds, the spy and the soldier attempt to trade for supplies for their scout ship. They end up getting more than they bargain for, and are misguided into a pocket universe. However, in this new place, Cade finds signs of his Old Federation enemies, and a temptress offers him a path that does not lead back to his wife.

His wife

Performance is excellent and the overall story is pretty good but enough with the wife stuff. Be faithful but going on and on about it. Give it a rest!

Military Sci-Fi Adventure

Escape Vector is an excellent military sci fi story. It has Vaughn Heppner’s usual fast pace style that never ceases throughout the tale. I always find this author’s books to be very entertaining and creative. Plus it never hurts to have a beautiful female character to imagine when listening to a good story.

More solid entertainment

I'm still captivated by the storyline and am excited for the final novel in the series

Had potential, but struggled to finish

The author does a great job at writing action scenes and there are some fun sci-fi concepts, but major issues (imo) are holding this series back.

The amount of navel gazing the main character engages in goes past character development and becomes exhausting. Goes over the same internal arguments over and over.

Descriptions of women make me think these were added in by a horny 14 year old with limited imagination and vocabulary.

Performance was entertaining and there was never any confusion about which character was speaking.

Ultimately wouldn't recommend simply from the pure second hand embarrassment I felt any time a woman entered the scene.
