About this listen

The battle for Earth begins with a secret invasion....

They came from the brightest star in the southern constellation of Carina. First they studied us. Now they're among us, threatening human existence as they search for the Starcore, the greatest device of the lost Polarions.

Logan is captured in the Nevada desert but escapes in Greenland. There he finds an extraterrestrial stealth ship, giving him the means to take the battle to the enemy.

He will fight the aliens underground. He will fight them in the sky, and he will fight them in space. He will never surrender.

Logan becomes a one-man wrecking crew while using alien technology better than any being alive.

Great book, but not so great performance

Vaughn Heppner wrote another great story. It is something in between the Expeditionary force and Star force. The main character looks a bit odd, but it is sci-fi, so it is okay.

As for the performance - V.Heppner if you read this review - please do not use Christian Rummel for book 3 or other books. Rummel has a great voice, when he change it, but his default voice with which he speaks the story and the main character is terrible. It is FLAT voice. He tries hard to make it more emotional voice, but at the end it still remains flat. You can not feel any pressure building up with him. You can not feel where the story goes, you can not feel what is the emotional state of many of the characters. He has some good points when he change his voice, but it is not enough. Marc Vietor does a much better job in A.I. series. I highly recommend switching to him.

Overall I think the listeners will enjoy the book as it is interesting, no matter of the flat narrator.

FUN BOOK!

I really enjoyed listening to this book. Christian Rummel sounds so much like Sam Elliott that I kept picturing Logan as Sam Elliott. He did a wonderful job keeping the Mr. Heppner's characters straight so that the book just flew by. I enjoyed it so much that I just bought the next story. I must find out how Logan and Rex proceed.

A Fun story!

Done in the old gum shoe detective style, this is a lot of fun. There are a lot of technology gadgets. You like the characters. There's more than enough action. I hope the author can find a way to make a sequel. A fun story.

Less than stellar

I found the over all story and action something akin to a junior high or high school level sci-fi book. The hero goes from one major threatening disaster to another (way too many) and then suddenly and miraculously finding some way out. Way too many situations like this. It really started getting monotonous and nauseous. As for the story, giving it 3 stars is being generous. Actually after thinking about this I am going to go back and change it to 2 stars.

The narrator was good as always. Good range of voice altho this book didn’t stretch his abilities since so few characters.

Overall, I give this book 3 stars. If there is a sequel, I certainly hope the author adds much more depth to the story and characters and “grows up” both. If not, I will quit the story and go read something with more depth.

grrat book but!

this was a great book but it was almost a little bit too much Boy Meets Girl. The action was a little bit predictable some things in there could have been better. But over and almost enjoyable experience just this author has done better.

The narrator killed it for me

I think the premise is good but the fact that the narrator can’t pronounce Nevada correctly it killed the whole series for me. NE-VA-DA. No awww in there at all.
