About this listen

The Eleven: an alliance of ultimate predators. Primal, lethal, irresistible. The Prophecy: an ancient Mayan prediction that the world will end on 12-21-12. The Prey: where can you hide from pure evil?

Kelly Maloy opens her car door to much more than a great looking stranger at the Houston airport. Terror, desire, and a horrible truth climb in with him. She's only supposed to drive Ty Endeka around the city for a few weeks. Too bad no one tells her that once day fades she'll become part of a battle fought in the darkened streets with an enemy that isn't human. And the sensual man who feeds her fantasies hides a soul that gives new meaning to animal magnetism.

Eleven Gods of the Night - The only creatures more deadly are the ones they've been summoned to destroy.

Eternal GODS need to pick up the pace

So far this is just an okay series. Yes the concept of having of these eternal dinosaur beasts having their mysterious souls rule them and who fight the bad immortals, is interesting. The descriptive of the male Ty as a sexy god like guy and his heroine with a little sassy, a little guts falls a little short. Somehow been there done that and this series falls into the standard template paranormal romance with no other unique catch other than the dinosaurs thing. Yes it does have potential, which is why I’ll give book 2 a try. But it come so close to being flat and with several steps away from having a unique flavor of it’s own. Flip of coin if you want to give it a chance. The narrator has some work to do. She reads with a fair amount of emotion but she really needs to work on distinguishing the character voices.

Ridiculous Yet Hilariously Entertaining

This review was originally posted on my blog, Exploring All Genres.

Let me start by saying this is the kind of book I likely never would have picked up without some kind of outside influence. And in this case that outside influence was the Vaginal Fantasy Hangout over on GoodReads.

I listened to the audiobook version of this book and I’m wondering if it would have been better to have actually read it. The narration was lackluster at best. There was no distinction between characters whatsoever. It was hard to tell who was talking unless it was one of those “he said” or “she said” moments, and even then with so many male characters in this book it was hard to know exactly which “he” said something, otherwise all dialog seemed to be non-distinctive. Even when someone was thinking something it was almost impossible to tell if it was thought, dialog or general description without listening to it a second time, the part before/after didn’t always reveal what type it was.

The names of the various male characters who played the role of the dinosaur shape shifters certainly made me give my head a solid shake, Ty for Tyrannosaurus Rex, the triples Utah, Rap and Tor were obviously the Utah Raptor, and other shortened dinosaurs names filled the role of these men’s name. Trying to get past how crazy, and fairly unoriginal that was, took a bit of time but eventually I learned to ignore them as the story progressed. As far as the female main character, Kelly, I didn’t really feel any connection to her either, she much filled the role of human in among the circus of other characters and species.

The addition of werewolves in the story was partially a turn-off for me as I tend to avoid books with them in it, however at this point there was dinosaur shape shifters, demons and vampires it made little difference and a bit of sense. Why not throw in all the generic “monster” types? It sort of worked for the book in the end, but honestly I could have done without the story being drowned in monster type creatures.

While the narration wasn’t good, the character names were ridiculous, the plot was lacking at best I will admit it did entertain me a bit to listen to this book. It was one of those things where it was so out there that it was somewhat good. I spent just as much time shaking my head as I did laughing at some of the things that were said and done, especially the ending, that was the epitome of ridiculous. Will I read the others in the series? Probably not unless I’m really bored and looking for a book that isn’t supposed to be taken seriously but who knows maybe I will at some point in the future.

I could get hooked on this series BUT NARRATOR SUX

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

I enjoyed the story, would have been much better with another narrator though. This one is dreadful. I had to keep rewinding to pick up who said what, there was no differentiation between characters at all, which made it hard to follow at times. She may as well have been reading a newspaper article...

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Carolee Goodgold?

Fred Berman or Holter Graham. Best narrators I have listened to ever. When they narrate you can tell the difference between every character and they can do females without making them sound vapid or whiny. Their voices are also sexy as hell.

Any additional comments?

even though I hated the narrator I am still looking forward to listening to the next book in the series and keeping my fingers crossed for a different narrator. I think the storyteller can make or break a book and this one very nearly breaks it.

Awesome consistency and realistic characters

Would you listen to Eternal Pleasure again? Why?

A definite keep and repeat listen!

Nina Bangs created unique characters with personalities that were believable, matching what I would imagine prehistoric beasts would resemble in present times (if humanized as she has done).

She also made any changes made occur at a believable pace. I look down on stories with people who think one way, but then BAM! "You were right, I was wrong. Cool deal!"...Yeah right. I've yet to meet someone like that.

I would recommend to anyone who loves this genre!

Who was your favorite character and why?

Loved Fin! Cold, manipulating, and secretive. Yet got a child-like enjoyment out of certain things. A bad, yet likable, good guy.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Definitely! I hated my pause button! Lol...

I'M ETERNALLY HOOKED AN AWESOME NEW SERIES

I thought this had everything - a great paranormal/romance plot filled with 11 sexy handsome Gods of Night that can transform into ...... wait for it...... dinosaurs, yes I know that sounds a bit "oh yea?" but give them a chance and they'll have you routing for them. Against them are 9 evil blood thirsty entities that want to bring the destruction of the civilised world for their own goals and each book deals with the annihilation of one of them at a time.

Werewolves, Vampires, Shapeshifters, Sourcerers and more, are all entwined and seemlessly blended into this brilliant new series and, along with them, is the instant attraction between the two main characters - Ty (short for Tyrannosaurs Rex) and Kelly, his human driver, and their growing love despite their obvious differences. Can love conquer all and at what price? Lots of questions yet to be answered as the plot develops further and grows.

My only criticisms are that the sex scenes could have hotter and the narrator was dreadful and totally let the book down. I found it hard to follow who was talking and was that the person thinking or talking out loud so please please please Publishers get another narrator that will make this book a 5 star rating for all 3 categories.

Worth a credit? Oh yes, despite the narrator, I'm happy with my purchase and can't wait to listen to the 2nd in the series and, if you like the sound of the above, then you will be too.

Just okay bud still give it a chance

This book is okay if you just give it a chance.
the beginning is quite boring but it gets better as the story unfolds.
I will be checking out the rest of the series when it comes out on audiobook
