About this listen

Magic and fire burn....

The serenity of the Land of Faerie is threatened as the Unseelie queen, Aveta, rages war against the three remaining Seelie Realms of Faerie. As Shade's powers grow, she finds she is running out of time to keep the war from spilling into the human world. Winter is growing in strength as the evil queen's horrifying legions scar the land in their frigid wake. No one is safe. Shade becomes enemy number one for the Unseelie legions. Questioning her true role of power, Shade discovers the cost of winning may come at a much higher price than she ever imagined.

Would you listen to Ever Fire again? Why?

I might listen to the rest of the series. The concept of this world and a fairy world was interesting. I think listening to the first book first would be best.

Any additional comments?

Not sure why she calls her mother by her first name. It makes her seem very distant and awkward.

Overall a Fun Listen

I'm enjoying this series very much. I'll read just about any urban fantasy, but this one is quickly becoming a fav. Dark and a little bit angsty, just how I like it.

The narrator gave a good performance. Very well done.

Shade has been through so much on her own that, to see her return to being a kid is quite a shock. While things aren’t “normal” they’re definitely an adjustment for Shade and what she has been through.

A lot of learning going on in this book. A lot of danger and a lot of secrets coming to light.

So much going on, so much to look forward to. Shade has a lot to learn and big choices to make.

While I miss the narrator from the first book, this narrator also did a good job bringing the story to life.

Things are changing!

I liked this sequel to Evershade. It did seem to be lacking in some areas, but overall it was decent. There was an ongoing repetitive quality and I think the book would've benefitted from additional development of the secondary characters. Despite this, I will be reading the next book in the series because I am interested in seeing where it leads.

A girl with fae magic's. A boyfriend, Dylan. A want to be her mate, soap. All working together to rid themselves from the dark magic, queen. Blood, betrayal, insane fae, death, torture, loss, hopelessness mixed with family, love, fire fae, water fae. Good story line and characters. A bit slow but fun. Worth reading.

Intense story

Would you listen to Ever Fire again? Why?

Absolutely! Alexia Purdy is one of my go to writers. If she writes it I'm going to read and listen to it. That being said Ever Fire continues Shade journey through the land of faery. Shade meeting her grandmother is one of my favorite scenes in any book. Soap of course stole my heart and is Shade doesn't pick him I want him! The story is so deep, the characters so rich this is one I will listen to over and over again.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Ever Fire?

Her meeting her grandmother

Which character – as performed by Nancy Peterson – was your favorite?

It's a tie between Soap and Lana

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

A sad scene- no spoilers here - that happens during a fight

Any additional comments?

This is a series you will want to listen to over and over

I love this series

A lot happens in this thrilling continuation of the Dark Faerie series. As the war against the Unseelie intensifies and the risk of it spilling into the human world increases, Shade continues to train and develop her powers. Her bond to Dylan remains intact and their relationship intensifies but when Dylan is called away to serve his queen, Shade feels alone and abandoned, allowing for her feelings for Soap to develop further. Soap is a character you can not help but like, he is sweet, strong, loyal and giving, and you are torn as to who you want Shade to be with. The discoveries and losses in this story pull at your heart and the action is exciting. My only complaint about this story is that Shade is a bit too whinny and self absorbed, but then again what teenager isn’t. The narration of the audiobook is well done, and I love the different accents and voices she does for the characters. The action, intrigue and development of the characters and plot is great and there are also some interesting alliances and a few surprises in this story too. I would suggest that you read the books in sequence in order to fully understand the story. I look forward to listening to the next audiobook in the series.

Great second book in the series
