About this listen

"When are you having kids?"

"Why don't you just adopt?"

These innocent, well-meaning questions are ones everyone asks couples, especially women of a certain age. To those one in eight couples who undergo infertility treatments, these questions do not feel at all innocent or well-meaning, but invalidating to the battle they're fighting and the difficulty and pain involved in the adoption process.

Ever Upward is Justine Froelker's surprising story of triumph over terrible luck. This is the story of how Justine redefined her childless life and learned to be okay, whole, and happy with a full child-free life. It is a story that resonates with many: a story of pain, struggle, recovery, triumph, and acceptance. Ever Upward fills the current gap on the infertility bookshelf, providing a voice to those silenced by infertility, opening the conversation to the other side asking for understanding and acceptance of the path that sadly doesn't include children; challenging us all to consider more than one happy ending.

Ever Upward is Justine's story, and yet it is every woman's story, mother or not, because behind the wall of shamed silence, the smile, and "I can do everything" attitude lie millions of women suffering with the pain of infertility. Join Justine as she shows us that the connection to our stories is the only way back to the truth of who we are.

Powerful and Beautifully Written

As a 32 year old woman who has also recently made the difficult decision to stop infertility treatment, this book spoke wonders to me and helped me to feel even more at peace with my decision of living a child-free life with my husband. Justine captures spot on all of the roller coaster emotions involved within the world of infertility. I really enjoyed hearing her story which also has inspired me to pursue all of the other amazing gifts my own life brings to the table without one of these being children. Thank you Justine for sharing your beautiful journey and story with all of us! ❤️

My first review ever- because this needs to reach more women!

Beautifully bridges the gap in the literature for those seeking a book about infertility that doesn’t end with a miracle baby, or an adoption. A story about redefining, accepting and embracing your child-less life. I cried through 90% of the book. Thank you to the author for sharing her story. I will probably relisten to this title, and I very seldomly read or listen to something twice.

Must ready for infertility warriors!

Thank you for sharing your story! I am still on my infertility journey. I’m in a holding pattern currently waiting on my husbands numbers to increase before we can move forward with a donor egg cycle. We attempted our first cycle in November of 2020 and I ended up with one egg which didn’t make it past washing. I don’t know what our future holds but I’m so grateful that you shared your story.
