Too close to reality

Like my title says, it's just to close to reality. I guess I shouldn't have listened to this when I was at work. Still, because of it I was totally hypnotized by this book, I finished in one sitting, couldn't turn it off. Think 1984 and Animal Farm all rolled into one. Except it's kind of real...kind of what we all live every day. Very disturbing

Part of the appeal of this book, I have to admit, was the characters in the book. Like us, they make friends, find a way to make the miserable more pleasant. It's this camaraderie that makes it fun in the middle of all of the disturbing. I would definitely read it again.

The narrator helped to drive home the story, fantastic range of voices, they did a great job.

Eerily profetic!

Great dystopian story that is way too close to the truth of how our society is moving forward. This book captured my attention from the beginning! This is my second book by Sturdevant and I think what I seem to like most about his books are the characters and the detail he puts into them. Paul J. McSorley brings the characters and the story to life. Excellent book!

Another fantastic story

Would you listen to Everything Inc. again? Why?

Yes. His stories are very interesting perspectives and tell these snippets of a life you would not have known existed.

What did you like best about this story?

You can believe in the characters. They are developed and crafted where you would almost know someone like them already.

Have you listened to any of Paul J. McSorley’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I love his delivery. Very good choice of narrator.

Very interesting!

The narrator in this was excellent! He did all the different voices so well for each of the different characters. I thought the story was interesting, and I loved the friendship that was made between the 2 main guys. I enjoyed this short story.

Modern day Orwell

The first time I read 1984, it was just past that year, but the prospects for an Orwellian future were still realistic enough that it was scary as heck. Now, though, post-9-11, we see a lot of those same scary prospects as nothing more than a daily annoyance. Everything, Inc. takes it a league further into a world more realistically terrifying than I've ever imagined. We are already seeing signs of this bleak future, which makes it that much more terrifying. This book was scary in the way that the evening news is scary, and throws a dark pall on mega-conglomerates. Very entertaining, but also thought-provoking and insightful. The narrator was awesome.

Sad and funny story at the same time

Everything Inc. The Precious and the Broken

By: Geoff Sturtevant Narrated by: Paul J. McSorley

Everything Inc. is set during a time where the world is basically controlled by one big corporation. The perfect example of Monopolization; yet, it is written to allow the characters make this a sad and funny story at the same time. I found myself empathetic one minute and laughing the next.

The author did a great job bringing this story to life with excellent imagery and directing the story to unfold perfectly to maintain the interest of the reader. The narrator performed Everything Inc. with voices to match each character and really made the best of the authors work.

I loved Everything Inc. and rate it with 4 HUGE stars. I highly recommend it.

Well written

This novella is well written, well narrated, and holds your interest throughout. Its only flaw is that it isn’t as original as some of Sturtevant’s other works, such as Occupational Hazards. But well worth the investment of time to listen to.

Great short science fiction

I hate to say this but Mr. Sturtevant writing fits more or less how I see the far away future as. I have no trouble buying into this story. If is a little strange, very different and unique. Short, to the point of how a company takes over everything and everybody but the question is how they are using the people they are hiring. Could it be for slave labor, to help people who need help, or could it be so much more than our minds can handle?

The narrator as always does a wonderful job with his narration, his male characters are always outstanding pulling you in with the emotions he gives them. The fear, excitement, danger, unsure is show very easy in how he displays his characters tones. I was hanging on the edge with each new discovery as well as what happens to the people when they are no longer there. There are no background noises, no volume changes and no repeating of words. The narrator gives you a very clear, clean audio that takes you way making it easy to feel the horrors, the unsure, the pain and sorrow of losing everything you have only to find you're as far down as you can go. I enjoyed his narration and the powerful tones he gives each character. I look forward to listening to more of his work.

I thought this was a very interesting listen that held my attention keeping me invested in the story. It has a great plot and is a little out there but most of this authors writing are. He makes his stories unique and fascinating. I had no trouble at all buying into the story and feel somewhere along the way in this crazy world this could be our future to some point. Great job I totally loved it.

it was interesting.

the writing was great. I loved it up until the very end, maybe I missed something? but it seemed like the author just wanted to finish the book. so they stopped it as fast as possible. but everything right up to that point was fabulous.
