About this listen

In 1911, Carrie Strahorn wrote a memoir entitled Fifteen Thousand Miles by Stage, which shared some of the most exciting events of 25 years of traveling and shaping the American West with her husband, Robert Strahorn, a railroad promoter, investor, and writer. That is all fact. Everything She Didn't Say imagines Carrie nearly 10 years later as she decides to write down what was really on her mind during those adventurous nomadic years.

Certain that her husband will not read it, and in fact that it will only be found after her death, Carrie is finally willing to explore the lessons she learned along the way, including the danger a woman faces of losing herself within a relationship with a strong-willed man and the courage it takes to accept her own God-given worth apart from him. Carrie discovers that wealth doesn't insulate a soul from pain and disappointment, family is essential, pioneering is a challenge, and western landscapes are both demanding and nourishing. Most of all, she discovers that home can be found, even in a rootless life.

With a deft hand, New York Times bestselling author Jane Kirkpatrick draws out the emotions of living - the laughter and pain, the love and loss - to give listeners a window not only into the past, but into their own conflicted hearts. Based on a true story.

Cute book, excellent Christina Moore narration

The tales of a woman who traveled with her wanna be railroad tycoon husband in the 1800s. Sometimes she followed him and sometimes had to stay in a place all alone.

Worth the credit.

Unique story-telling appreciated!

Jane Kirkpatrick has masterfully told a story of the settling of the West, weaving personal faith and a women’s perspective throughout every page.

Encouraging people to settle the West and build up towns and cities, based on her husband, Robert Strayhorn’s , writing, was an interesting perspective. Travel Writers have been around a long time!

Her important role in it all, while being true to herself, is a topic I can relate to.

It has inspired me to learn more about the early railroad in what is now Washington state, Idaho and Oregon.

Her vivid descriptions and characters were an adventure I’m sorry has come to an end with turning the last page.

Great Historical Novel

I have read almost all of Jane Kirkpatrick’s novels and her work never disappoints. The book is well written with amazing historical accuracy. It’s like being transported back in time and watching the events of Carrie Adell Strahorn’s life unfold. I highly recommend the novel and/or audiobook to all who have a love history and reading about actual people who have gone before us.

Love this book

I adore the narrator and the story of a strong, brave women, who yet was willing to stand behind her man, and embrace is dreams, even thought it caused her many hardships.
