Publisher's summary

His name is Landon Hamilton, but to the angels and demons wrestling for control of our world he’s known simply as ‘diuscrucis’. He is the balancer, the great equalizer, a once mortal and former god who toes the line between good and evil to prevent the end of days...

In New York, a demon is slaughtering coeds at campuses around the city, taking the form of its victims and vanishing without a trace. At the same time in Nevada, a scientist with his own inexplicable supernatural talent has been spotted consorting with angels, working with them on a secret project that bridges the gap between science and faith.

While the two events appear unrelated on the surface, it isn’t long before Landon’s investigation leads him to one startling conclusion: the war between Heaven and Hell is evolving faster than he could have imagined, and the survival of mankind depends on his ability to make some of the hardest choices of his afterlife.

Enemies become allies and allies become enemies in this breakneck paced, action-packed mashup of urban fantasy, religious mythology, and pure adventure that are characteristic of the popular Divine series.

NOTE FOR NEW READERS: Evolution is the first book in the Escalation cycle, the second story arc centered around Landon Hamilton. While it is recommended to read all of the Divine books in order, it is possible to start with Evolution and return to Balance to fill in more of Landon’s backstory. The choice is yours!

Nailed it again!

Would you listen to Evolution (The Divine Book 5) again? Why?

I truly enjoy this series! Every book has been every entertaining and Evolution is no different. I always find myself wanting the books to be longer for my own selfish reasons!!

Who was your favorite character and why?

I would have to say Landon! He's this guy with god like powers yet he is like us. He struggles to always do the right thing and to be human when he is so much more than human. He is a noble guy, but I think I would have kept a little more "juice" for myself!

Best book yet!

Jeff does another great reading, looking forward to the next one!

Book 5 picks up where 4 left off but has a much better conclusion.

Becoming repetitive and tedious

I have, regrettably, lost interest in the series. I very much enjoyed Forbes 1st 3 book installments, I started to become less enthusiastic starting with book 4; even though I still found it a worthy installment.

In Evolution, while the fight for humankind continues with newer and different enemies, it also casts off many of the original endearing characters (except for cameo appearances) and instead brings on newer ones. Regrettably, these newer characters aren't as interesting as the earlier ones nor is the depth of their backstory.

Jeff Hays does a excellent job in narrating the series, including adding some periodic sound effects that I've not heard in other audiobooks. They aren't often but when they occur, they do enhance to effect of the particular passage being recited.

{spoiler alert}
He found another new love interest candidate but the poor schmuck still doesn't know how to close the deal. I mean, seriously!?

I expected so much more...

I struggled to complete this narrative, and the first chapter had such fantastic potential. The narration was horrible and almost comical when he attempted to speak in a woman's voice. Don't waste your time, money or monthly credit. It seemed like a rush write and no practice "takes" from the narrator.
