About this listen

New York Times best-selling author Larry Bond’s Dangerous Ground, starring Navy Lieutenant Commander Jerry Mitchell, was hailed as a “hugely entertaining adventure” by Library Journal. In Exit Plan, Mitchell’s crew is ordered to the Iranian coast for a mission to retrieve intelligence on Iran’s nuclear weapons. But while en route, their mini-sub catches fire, forcing Mitchell and four SEALs to swim to shore - and into enemy territory.

Larry Bond is Back!

This is the first of Larry Bond's novels I have been able to finish since his original First Team. Exit Plan has the power and suspense, without getting bogged down in extraneous and unimportant distractions. Bond should continue to sail it alone, as his solely written works are much more appealing to me than those which he wrote with other partners!

The story held my attention Dick Hill is alway good

This the second Larry Bond book that I have listened too. They both were both were good listens. The detail of the landscape that surround the action is told in such away that you feel that you have a window into how these kind of story would work if they. Were to happen. What more can you ask for in a tail.

Navy SEALS in Iran = Good Times!

First off, this book has A TON of technical jargon in it. 9 times out of 10 that screams "Oh, look at what a knowledgeable author I am!!", but here it's not terribly annoying. There are about 4 storylines running throughout the book--- only 2 of which you'll actually be interested in. Bond's storytelling abilities are just good enough to keep you awake.

Overall, the story is somewhat believable, EXCEPT for a few small holes... like the fact that Bond wants you to believe that there are ZERO operational helicopters in all of Iran! (Believe me, had the author included a few Iranian helicopters, the story would've turned out VERY differently)

The characters are not all that deep, or compelling. When they die, you don't care. What really keeps you listening is the ACTION. After the SEALS make it to Iran, it's pretty much a roller coaster ride (when that storyline is being focused on). If you can make it through the numerous slow parts, the ending does have a very good payoff.

The narrator is OK, not great. He's not so annoying that it will make the book intolerable.

Bottom line; if you're looking for a good Navy SEAL yarn, and you like the technical SEAL stuff, then you'll enjoy this one.

Frustrating

It’s a good book, but frustrating when you consider the presidential decisions, not to let the submarine do what they were designed to do. Never thought there could be a president that could be that stupid until we got saddled with the current one.
the mission could’ve come off a lot better if leadership had shown some guts and allowed Michigan to move in close.
The book is very suspenseful, and Jerry’s interaction with the seal leader was very interesting. I would recommend this book.

Good story I liked it

I like when I can imagine myself in the story. This series has done that for me. Interesting story be stuck in Iran trying to escape and take care of the people you’re responsible for. It’s no edge of your seat, but is is smart and tight.
Good read

Thoughtful thrillet

Loved it. Well done without jingoistic claptrap. A solid story with understandable characters with understandable motivations.

A good yarn… small unit tactics, a sub & seals doing seal shit!

This author & narrator are like old friends... You can tell of an intimate knowledge of all things Navy... The small unit tactics are on point.
I'm no seal but I feel that there is no way in hell that unit was leaving a brother behind! Dead or not orders be dammed!
