About this listen

When his uncle is brutally murdered, Josiah King knows that business just got personal. His uncle's ties to the Alliance can mean only one thing: Josiah and his black ops team are targets along with everyone they love. Primed for vengeance, Josiah is determined to unravel the plot - until long-legged redhead Sutton Dahl becomes a dangerous distraction.

Sutton is very good at uncovering other people's secrets - and protecting her own. When Josiah bursts into her life, she's torn between pushing him away and asking for his help. Mysterious, strong, and much too sexy, he's a puzzle she longs to solve and a temptation she can't ignore.

Thrown together in the face of Alliance's most lethal threat, Josiah and Sutton become unlikely partners, fighting for their lives even as the attraction between them flares into real passion. Torn between his team and the woman who means everything to him, Josiah will risk it all to save Sutton, even if that decision is his last.

Great addition to the story

Josiah wasn't as smooth and sharp in his own story as he is in the other two books. I felt his romance with Sutton was forced. One second he doesn't trust her the next second he's having the tinglies for her. The whole thing just felt forced. the suspense part was AWESOME. The romance left me wanting ......something more that just wasn't there.

A few things

Mike - Did not see that coming
Harlin - OMG
Lucas - almost had me in tears

I was a bit confused as to where the hell the rest of Josiah's team was but ok this was the J&M show save the day team. I'll go with it.

I'm sure the author has more stories to tell in this world so I'll sit tight and see what interests me.

narrator 4
story 3 the actual romance was like a 1.75 or a 2 the great story telling and suspense bumped it up to a 3

Great shoot 'um up..

This was a pretty good story but it was way too long. There were times when it went on and on and really added nothing to it. And Josiah was such a jerk to Sutton for what seemed like forever, well, until 50% anyway. Every time she turned around he was raising hell with her or accusing her of something stupid. Then, when he got it in his head that she wasn’t what he thought she was all he wanted to do was screw her. I mean, he did an about face in about 4 pages of the book. He went from accusatory to Mr. Protector in a second flat. Then he pushed her away, telling her she deserved better than him, near the end of the book. That was crazy, too.

It really was a great story but it needed to be shorter. The players: Tasha, Ellery, Lucas, Mike, Harlan, were fantastic. Benton and Fredrick were super-duper bad guys. What blood thirsty creeps they were. I loved hating them.

This is book 3, and my first book by this author. The first book had 52 reviews, the second had 27 and this one, before my review, had 16. I can’t see myself reading anything else by the author. When an author just keeps adding to a book just to make it a bigger book all that author does is cut her own throat. No way did this have to be 384 pages. IMO

I did find myself skimming, and that’s not good.

There was some explicit sex in this story and the F-bomb was used 61 times. So, if you don’t like those two things keep looking.

As to the narrator: I’ve never listened to Steve West before but he has a really nice voice. He could work a little harder on the female voices but he did whisper when the book called for it and that’s important, and he did laugh a time or two but not as often as the book called for. Overall, he did a pretty good job and I would definitely listen to him again.
