About this listen

Ryan Babineaux and John Krumboltz, psychologists, career counselors, and creators of the popular Stanford University course “Fail Fast, Fail Often,” have come to a compelling conclusion: happy and successful people tend to spend less time planning and more time acting. They get out into the world, try new things, and make mistakes, and in doing so, they benefit from unexpected experiences and opportunities. Drawing on the authors’ research in human development and innovation, Fail Fast, Fail Often shows readers how to allow their enthusiasm to guide them, to act boldly, and to leverage their strengths - even if they are terrified of failure.

Critic reviews

"Big goals are great - but not if they're paralyzing. In this fun and inspiring book, Rabineaux and Krumboltz show that taking small steps and accepting failures ultimately lead you down the path to success." (Laura Vanderkam, What the Most Successful People Do Before Breakfast)

Overall, it was a decent read. I feel, however, like the author failed to fully develop the overriding theme to the degree he could have. Largely, this was a rehashing of ideas that are far more fleshed-out in other books. There was very little original research to bring anything new to the table.

Not as original as it could have been

Interesting perspectives to help you find direction in your life. There were some platitudes, but still worth listening to. The narration was understandable but flat. Would give three and a half stars if I could.

I read a few reviews that nothing new was said but for someone that has never read a book like this there was a lot of new and inspiring ideas! I can't wait to see where it takes me. I will be listening again and pausing so I can do some of the exercises and sharing it. The best part is that if one of the ideas mentioned doesn't help there are a plethora of ideas to try next!

A lot of great advice

When referencing concepts that may have been well known to the listener author referenced original source then covered concept that applied. If you wanted a deep dive into the topic you could pursue it on your own.

Informative and moved quickly.

It's a collection of insubstantial motivational clichés, but at least it's a nice collection of insubstantial motivational clichés. Like with any other self-help book, check your brain at the door and prepare for a very short ride.
