Faith Daniels has had a hard time fitting in all her life, from the time she was left on the steps of a firehouse to her recent divorce. The only time she feels connected is when she rehabs old houses. Often she wishes she could have experienced life in a simpler time. Her current project, a 1900 Galveston mansion, is all she ever wished for and more. When some mysterious force transports her from 2016 to 1900, just prior to the most devastating natural disaster on record, will Faith give up all she has attained in her present life to stay in the past with the sexy turn-of-the-century lawyer?
Joseph Benning has serious trust issues. He is still recovering from the jolt of being dumped by his fiancée shortly before their wedding. In order to prove to himself he can manage on his own without a woman in his life, he decides to reach outside of his routine and buy a house. Suddenly, a strange woman shows up inside his house telling fantastic stories of disaster and destruction. Will Joe be able to make the right decision and let her go, when it comes time to save her life?

Faith and the Texas Lawyer by Carra Copelin is a sweet historical romance with plenty of sexual tension, but without all the embarrassing salacious details. The story is basically a classic time-travel romance wherein the modern day heroine finds herself transported back in time to 1900 Galveston, Texas after she puts on a vintage dress she found in a trunk in the attic of an old mansion she recently bought (Faith is from 2016 and in the business of renovating old houses). Our hero Joe is a lawyer who was recently jilted by his fiancé. To get a fresh start, he moves to Galveston in 1900 after finding a beautiful old house he buys and intends to settle down in. It's not long after Joe moves into his house when he discovers Faith in his attic in one of his old fiancé's dresses.
Faith doesn't necessarily mind being transported back to 1900 except for the fact that it's only a few days before September 8, 1900 - the day when a Category 4 hurricane ripped through Galveston, Texas, killing an estimated 6,000 to 8,000 people. Faith, Joe, and a few of his friends do as much as possible to prepare the mansion and the rest of town for the impending storm and, of course, they share an instant attraction and fall in love in the process. What's different from most of the other time-travel romances out there is that the heroine is very much from modern day America - she's wearing cut off shorts and a tank top underneath that vintage dress she tried on and her cellphone is transported back with her. In fact, her cell phone helps "prove" she is from the future.
I listened to the Audible version of this story narrated by Meghan Kelly. She did an outstanding job, differentiating between male and female voices and changing the tempo in the performance when warranted. Meghan's narration definitely contributed to my enjoyment of this book. I received a copy of this audio in exchange for an unbiased review.
Fantastic narration in Texas time travel tale!

What would have made Faith and the Texas Lawyer better?
If the romance didnt happen so fast. I personally felt it was way to rushed. She transported. They met. They fell in love. End of story. What could Carra Copelin have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
Besides the romance being rushed I thought the story was absolutely wonderful. Me personally I have to have character description. This way I can possibly imagine what they might look like....How could the performance have been better?
Slow down the quick paced "OMG I love you and you're it for me" romanceIf you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Faith and the Texas Lawyer?
None...each scene was different.. just slow down the romanceAny additional comments?
