About this listen

The course of Frank Mackey's life was set by one defining moment when he was 19. The moment his girlfriend, Rosie Daly, failed to turn up for their rendezvous in Faithful Place, failed to run away with him to London as they had planned. Frank never heard from her again. Twenty years on, Frank is still in Dublin, working as an undercover cop. He's cut all ties with his dysfunctional family. Until his sister calls to say that Rosie's suitcase has been found.

Frank embarks on a journey into his past that demands he re-evaluate everything he believes to be true.

After the Likeness I was ready to give up on Tana French, but since I had already purchased the first few books I wanted to give it another chance. This novel is a lot better, but I have to admit still not entirely my cup of tea. I prefer detective stories or cop novels, and these novels are more ‘drama’ than story. There’s realistic character development, but not much else. No tension, and the story doesn’t draw you in. It sort of reminds me of those Catherine Cook novels but with less storyline. It’s okay, the writing is solid, but it doesn’t blow me away.

Realistic characters, but mediocre story

Tana French is in a league of her own. Books keep getting better. Gerry O’Brien as narrator , is in a league of his own. I look forward to the next book where either of the two are involved

Brilliant.......again

I’m telling you, this is a good one.

written in the first person, the main character tends to repeat himself and his feelings quite a lot. it is a bit rambling, and by the time it gets interesting, you`ve very likely managed to work out the guilty party for yourself. also, the story and the cast are not coherent or harmonious. I would not recommend buying it, although i liked tana french`s "in the woods" a lot.

predictable ending

I didn’t think this one was as good as the first two. A bit depressing and the mystery wasn’t very interesting. Loved her first two though!

Didn’t love it as much as the first two
