About this listen

The first time I met Jax Blackwood things went a little sideways. I didn't know he was Jax Blackwood - who expects a legendary rock star to be shopping for groceries? More importantly, a blizzard was coming, and he was about to grab the last carton of mint-chocolate chip.

Still, I might have walked away, but then he smugly dared me to try and take the coveted ice cream. So I kissed him. And distracted that mint-chip right out of his hands. Okay, it was a dirty move, but desperate times and all that. Besides, I never expected he'd be my new neighbor.

An annoying neighbor who takes great pleasure in reminding me that I owe him ice cream but would happily accept more kisses as payment. An irresistible neighbor who keeps me up while playing guitar naked - spectacularly naked - in his living room.

Nothing about Jax is easy to ignore - not the way he makes me laugh, or that his particular brand of darkness matches mine, or how one look from him melts me faster than butter under a hot sun.

Neither of us believes in love or forever. Yet we're quickly becoming each other's addiction. But we could be more. We could be everything.

All we have to do is trust enough to fall.

Contains mature themes.

good book

this one was slower than the other two. I expected more emotional tension, for him to be more broken in a dark way. it's was in line with the others. Good read. recommended series.

Good story, Need better narrators

I first read this on Kindle and adored it. Figured i'd spring for the Audible credit. Female narrator wasn't the worst but come on, there are SO many better narrators than her. She didn't fit the character of Stella, nor does she have an appealing voice (I'm nasal too but I'm not a narrator). But the male narrator... pretty painful fake British accent (full on upper crust fake accent when he's supposed to have a faint one) that is stilted and overacted. Just bad. Love Jax's and Stella's story though. Just wish I'd stuck with Kindle.

best in the series

Wow! All of the books in Kill John series have been an enjoyable listen, but this is the best one so far. it is definitely a slow burn, but the emphasis on mental health and found family is riveting. Stella and John's romance almost feels normal despite the rockstar aspect.

Narrators did a wonderful job

Both male and female narrators did a wonderful job bringing Stella and Jax to life. I enjoyed the book and felt this recording truly enhanced the story. Loved the attention to the accents.

funny moments

Love the sense of humor the two in caricatures have with each other. also knowing that we are not alone in life there are people that love and care deeply for us.

Loved it!

Loved the narration Nelson does a great job and Maxine as well. She impersonates different characters great. This is just personal but the only thing i did not like was the dialogues she made for Stella. Why did her voice had to tremble so much? For this i took a star. (Again, nothing wrong, just though it was slightly annoying)

As for the story, i loved it so much it was so heartbreaking. It was great to get to know Jax’s story. Made me cry and laugh altogether and this is the best combination ever. I loved Stella and think she is great for Jax just wished the ending was not kind of rushed. In idol the ending felt great while in exposed it was rushed. This was more similar to managed.

Loved this Drummer Boy!!

LOVED IT!! Stella meets Jax Blackwood drummer for killjohn at the supermarket when Jax goes to grab the LAST pint of Mint Chocolate Chip Icecream!!! How dare he!!! In an effort to distract and grab the icecream away from him Stella lays a kiss on him that Jax will NEVER forget! Fast forward a few Stella gets a job house sitting, her new neighbor... Jax Blackwood. This amazingly written book is a slowburn strangers to lovers rockstar romance.

Narration by Maxine Mitchell and Nelson Hobbs. Maxine was fantastic in this role and brought so much emotion. Nelson Hobbs was new to me and was a good addition to this title. He had great energy for a rockstar and also carried a great amount of emotion in his voice and role.

Truly excellent book

I only recently discovered Kristen Calihan, and have read a few of her books now. This one is truly excellent. It’s a good love story in general but the introduction of some really serious topics, including depression, took this book to a much higher level. It was handled beautifully. I Definitely recommend.

Weird accent

The male narrator has an odd “British” accent. It sounds like someone who is speaking English as a second language.
