About this listen

I’m Spencer Whitley, the CEO of a billion-dollar company. But behind closed doors, I’m a clueless, single dad…. Between reading as many parenting books as I can and trying to get the little dude to sleep during the night, I can barely think about anything else.

But when I meet my neighbor, my mind begins to wander. Penny is gorgeous and an adorable klutz. After she takes a spill in front of my house, my protective instincts kick in.

As I bandage up her scrapes, all I want is to get to know her better. Then I watch her play with my son and my defenses start coming down.

Suddenly, I keep making up excuses to invite her over. We both have good reasons to be cautious. I want to focus on my son and be a good father. Penny needs a fresh start after a rough break-up. I can’t deny how much I want her, but is this a risk we want to take?

Cute Story

These books are all about the story with some sexy times thrown in. The stories are cute and the angst is minimal. I liked the narrators (of course! Who doesn’t love SebYo and Maxine Mitchell!!) and I do enjoy Layla Hagen’s writing (I have several of her books!) and this book is no exception.

Cute story

I have to say I love all these c e o guys, sexy. And the women. This story is cute with a little baby in it. And, of course, Grandma is always hilarious. Let's talk about the narrators. Sebastian mark is to die for as always. He is so wonderful to listen to. There's just something so calming. And his sexy voice is just, uh, makes you want to Swoon and sigh. But let's talk about miss maxine, I swear, this woman can do no wrong. She has the perfect voices. She just brings the story so much to life. I love this woman.

Slow start but sweet story

Sleep deprived, new single dad Spencer Whitley is learning to juggle challenges with his busy publishing career, and his new priority- baby son Ben. He has plenty of help from his beloved, charming, meddling grandmother Jeannie, when he unexpectedly finds a wonderful women has moved in next door to house sit. This romance is entertaining, fairly light hearted and not to full of angst. Aside from how Cade or was it Gabe could be Spencer’s twin yet Spencer is the only one to get a birthday party and the somewhat confusing brothers birth order this story was easy to listen to, cute, and fun. I would have liked to have more on the beautiful collie Becky (one of many collie lovers) and maybe we will get more of the interesting friend Taylor in another book.

The narration was well done with a lively reading by Maxine Mitchell as Penny, the kind, newly divorced temporary neighbor who is rediscovering her independence while working as a website designer. Sebastian York gave a thorough, believable performance as the overly busy Spencer who finds chemistry and then love when not expecting it. Looking forward to hearing more about this family of guys, baby Ben, and their irascible matchmaking grand mother. I highly recommend this as a hot, light, enjoyable romance.

Single Dad

I thought this was the perfect combination of what makes a good romance. Single dads are always sexy! Couples that are reluctant to get into a committed relationship but find out they have no choice when they find their perfect match. Love this family!

Another Whitley brother falls

Spencer thinks he's too busy raising his infant son until he meets his neighbor, Penny. His grandmother tries her matchmaking skills again. Penny is a natural with Ben and cares for him more than his mother. I liked this story narrated by Sebastian York and Maxine Mitchell. The next story tested at the end sounds good, too.

Wonderful next book in the series!

This is the 3rd book in the Whitley Brothers series by author Layla Hagen, but can definitely be read as a stand alone.

Penny, recently down on her luck and recently divorced...and Spencer, broody, single dad CEO...are a fun, opposites attract, short term neighbor, romance pair!

I loved the storyline and characters!

**Audio review**
Maxine Mitchell and Sebastian York were both perfect for their characters! I enjoy listening to both of them and they do a great narration of the opposite characters as well!

Great narration and an interesting story

I listened to the audiobook and I loved the narration by Sebastian York and Maxine Mitchell. I’m sure that I liked Spencer and Penny’s story more because of it. This was the first book I’ve listened to by Layla Hagen, and I’m interested in listening to more.

Great Narration Quintessential Rich Single Dad Rom

Overall I enjoyed this book. I am a sucker for a sweet klutz of a heroine and a CEO who knows and goes after what he wants. I really enjoyed the bits with the grandma even if in real life it would not be so endearing.
I thought the performances were great. I have been a long time fan of Sebastian York and understand why his popularity has grown. Maxine Mitchell has also narrated many audibles that I have enjoyed.
The story was cute but it was missing that spark for me that really draws me into an audible where I can't stop listening. I also questioned how the baby's mom was both portrayed and then handled. While it might have been necessary to cast her in the light it did, it didn't sit that well with me. Nor did his handling of her.
All of that said I will probably read the other brothers books when the mood for this type of read strikes me as this is the first one I have read so I have some catching up to do.
