About this listen

Beneath the Ocean of Sky, heroes will rise.

Samra Rose is in trouble. Living in a colony floating high above the clouds, she's been far away from anything resembling an adventure, but when aerial raiders carry off her home - with her inside - she gets more excitement than she ever wished for. Her best friend, Kipling, and a Grounder boy with a skyship will take to the air in pursuit, but all three will face dangers they've never imagined. The aerial ocean is a turbulent place full of deadly creatures and cutthroat pirates. If they hope to survive, they'll need to fight for their place in the Heights and confront those who have already claimed it.

Follow the adventures of three unlikely heroes as they abandon the safety of home to seek a destiny aloft in the clouds.

Fans of grand science fiction universes, steampunk airships, and daring pirate adventures will discover a thrilling new world of action, villainy, and friendship.

Make the leap into the sky today! Find out if you have what it takes to soar....

Nice story

Nice story but much too much narration. Need to hear more from the characters themselves

Ummmm, just didn’t do it

Well I have read EVER Van Coops book and LOVED all except this one. Nothing really wrong with it just couldn’t get into the characters. Several times had to rewind and figure out who was doing what.

Something is missing...

If you’ve listened to books by Nathan Van Coops before, how does this one compare?

I have read all of Nathan Van Coops's Chronos time travel series and expected similar pacing with wit. However, this book was completely stale and the pace was unbearable. While the world was full of imagination and the qualities of the species were creative, I was not able to connect with any of the characters. It almost made me felt like this book was a side-book that was begging to be finished by Nathan. I am a little more than halfway through and I'm still not yet hooked on the book.

It definitely feels like there is a certain element that i missing from the book that makes me want to continue. I doubt I will finish this one.

What does Jayme Mattler bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

The narrator was excellent in narrating the story and emoting the various characters. Tone was easy to listen to (not too bassy or not too squeaky).

boring read and anticlimactic ending..

I think this must have been written for kids, because the pacing is super slow, boring, and shallow. Characters are one dimensional, and the little action in the book is brief and not very entertaining. im sorry to say this book left me feeling cheated :(
