About this listen

"Sean has the unique ability to share the journeys of those who have sacrificed so much for pro wrestling, and he does so in a manner that evokes compassion, humor, and joy." (Justin Barrasso, Sports Illustrated)

"The stories are fascinating, mainly tear-jerking or humorous. It's a perspective never written about - until now - in stories only Sean Oliver can tell." (Bill Apter, author of Is Wrestling Fixed? I Didn't Know It Was Broken)

They were nomadic warriors, their business shrouded in secrecy. They navigated a world fraught with pitfalls. Abuse was rampant. Their world was perilous.

And they had kids.

This is the true story of pro wrestlers raising children while working the unrelenting road. All content was constructed via personal new interviews with the stars and their families. See how Sullivan, Atlas, Bischoff, Poffo, Russo, Santana, Bigelow, and more scored their most important wins and heartbreaking losses, told in a most riveting narrative style.

Sean Oliver does it again!

I loved Sean's previous book, and I'll say the same for this book -
"the audiobook is better!"

This is a unique premise for a story (or collection of stories with a unique premise for a theme, more accurately), there are moments that will make you smile, and moments that will tug at the heart strings.

Sean is a gifted impressionist, and there are plenty of Tony Atlas, Lanny Poffo, and Tito Santana stories - draw your own conclusions.

Plus some inside stories never truly heard before including about underrated stars who simply don't have enough written about them; Gary Hart, Bam Bam Bigelow, etc.

Sean Oliver Does It Again.

Sean Oliver dives into a topic about wrestlers being fathers.

There are revelations about certain stars in the business who enjoyed growing up who now I have a ton of respect for after hearing this story. These include JJ Dillon, Eric Bischoff, Tito Santana, and Gary Hart.

There are stories such as Sean Walkman, Bam Bam Bigelow and Tony Atlas that tug your heart strings a tad.

As a expecting father to be, I take pride that this book shows that if they can all find a away to make it work, even with the lifestyle of a wrestler, then I can too.

Check it out.

Fathers' Blood has emotional complexity & honesty

"Fathers' Blood" is not a myopic flat retred wrestling book. it does achieves elements that projects such as "Beyond The Mat" couldn't even dream of capturing appropriately. "Fathers' Blood" is a serious look at family dynamics with both the positive and the negative attributes which the pro wrestling industry places upon the actual families who's livelihoods depend on. Sean Oliver once again shines an honest light on the sport which in clearly loves. But even more what is clear from this wonderful book is that he very much cares for the people who willing give of themselves and sacrifice so much within their personal lives. Mr. Oliver with such dignity provided to families which he's highlighting; he reminds the listeners of the real humanity involved in this oftentimes circus like career choice... Sean's well placed gentle voice impressions bring even more context, richness to this detailed compilation of lives lived. this title is a must, I highly recommend it!

Excellent

Great book with a wonderful audio version complete with loving (and spot on) impersonations here and there. The toll the wrestling career takes on the workers is immense, and these stories of fatherhood run the gamut. Some of the Lanny Poffo stories really gave me immense and particular respect for him as a person. All the stories do to some degree, but his stories really standout. To come up with something new in wrestling is no small feat, the author has done that here, well done!

Interesting and touching stories

Sincere and sweet stories ton don’t always get to hear about the wrestling business. Not the best of Sean’s books but still a good read/listen.
