About this listen

A group of boys go out into the cereal field to play an innocent game of flashlight tag. But something is lurking in the field with them, and it's ready to tear the boys apart. 4.5 rounded up to 5

This is a short story that packs a big punch. Firstly, I want to notate how the audio is very professional. When the young boys spoke on walkie talkies, the voice sounded like it was being transmitted across a radio. When an echo was called for, the audio echoed. Plus I loved the music before and after.
Now onto the story. Its a short creature feature that touches on brotherly love ( even though it was adopted brotherly love). The author impressed me with well placed and appropriate adjectives but didn't overdo it. Also, the metaphors were a nice touch.
I want to thank the author for a free Audible code

A Nice Short Gory Story

I am no stranger to Nick's work, I have my favorites of his stories. I believe his best stories are yet to come. this one was very fun, not too long, and I recommend it to anyone who loves graphic horror. the scenes that had a lot of graphic action were fantastic to read. I know Nick loves his coming-of-age horror stories, and this one reflects it. you follow a group of kids who like to get into trouble in a field at night. one night a game of hiding and seek using some walkie-talkies gets out of hand. there are not just the boys in this field one cold night. if you're looking for a good short piece of fiction to read check this one out. I am excited to read Future Extreme horror stories from Nick.

Fast, tense, gory fun!

This is a great introduction to Nicholas Gray's work. It's a lightning-fast listen with fun characters and some thrilling set pieces. The tension ratchets up as the plot reaches its visceral conclusion. Recommended.

Keep an eye on this author!

A good short story by a new to me author. A night of fun turns into chaos for a group of boys playing flashlight tag. This story is scary and gory (that's ok! ;) I liked the relationship between all of them. It read like a real group of boys. Then the horror shows up. I thought the scariest part is when one of the boys looks up. I received the audio book in exchange for a honest review. The audio version is read by Justin Mills. He did so good!! Bravo Justin! I would read more by this author! He's one to keep an eye on!

Heartfelt, thrilling, and horrifying all at once.

Field of Fiends brings me right back to my childhood summer nights of kick the can and hide & seek. This story took my adolescent horror riddled imaginings to a whole new level! Hiding in the dark anxiously anticipating to be discovered by the enemy. The narrator, Justin Mills, is outstanding! He kept me on the edge of my seat and brought this story to life in a way I never could have done on my own. One of my favorite parts was the walkie talkie, “over and out.” The sound effects were amazing! Thanks for the thrill!
