About this listen

The cost of winning might be more than they’re able to bear….

Raven

All I wanted was a simple, quiet life.

Then I met him.

Jonah Slade is my polar opposite. I fly under the radar; he’s a celebrity. I’m a good girl mechanic; he’s the UFLs bad boy. We make no sense together.

And none of that matters when I’m in his arms.

Our differences aren’t the problem, though. We could overcome those. But fate (and my evil father) seems to have other plans for us….

Jonah

I never thought my destiny would come to me wearing overalls and a pair of Chucks. But she did.

The timing couldn’t be worse. I’m weeks away from a title fight.

And she’s all I can see.

I know that circumstances are conspiring against us. Protecting Raven might cost me everything. But that’s a chance I’m willing to take. I’ll do anything for the woman I love.

Because I’ve never lost a fight. And I’m not about start now….

Fighting for Flight, book 1 in the Fighting series, is an emotional, angsty, contemporary, steamy sports romance with a guaranteed happily ever after. Download today and get ready to fall for Raven and Jonah.

Absolute Total and Complete LOVE!!!

Drama, hot sex, a hot, sweet, alpha fighter head over heals for a girl?
Jonah, a certified man-whore, MMA fighter who almost immediately falls head over heals for the sweet, loving, innocent but strong Raven. This is not a book where the couple fights their feelings until the last chapter and finally they admit their love, no, they fight and hold on throughout.

I wasn't sure after reading the publisher's summary but it was wonderful. There were some miscommunications, heart wrenching drama and pain, all making the story that much better. What a wonderful couple! The writing was great, narrators were good as well. I didn't have any irritated moments with voices (which is rare for me). There were no awkward word choices, which make me stop and wonder exactly what they meant or if that was a mistake. The writing style was compelling, professional and enthralling.

I would like to see farther into the future but I know there are more stories coming (already out in e-books) so hopefully will be audible soon and will give small glimpses into the lives of Jonah and Raven. The secondary characters were interesting and endearing, making me excited for future books.

Totally worth the credit!

Blake's book is next and I can't wait!

Great Start to a New Series

This is a first listen for me from this author and it did not disappoint. I really enjoyed Jonah and Raven's story even if some scenarios were pretty unrealistic, but it is just a fictional book so not every aspect has to be totally believable for me to enjoy a book.

Jonah is a hot MMA fighter making his way up the ranks for the title belt when he meets Raven at Guy's Garage. She's a 20 year old hot mechanic who knocks him off his feet and he falls fast since she's not like any girl he's met. He hires her to help him re-store his vintage car and as they spend more time together day in and day out they fall for each other in the course of a week. Some reviewers frowned on this but I don't think it's so far fetched. When there is a mutual attraction and mutual interests and you spend 10+ hours a day together feelings can grow that fast. As some say, when you know you know.

All is hearts and flowers and car parts until Raven's d-bag dad, the King Pimp of Vegas, explains to Raven 2 weeks before her 21st birthday that he 'bred' her to work for him and be his 2nd generation of high class escorts and he will 'summon' her the day after she turns 21 and if she tries to run and hide or fight him he will start killing off everyone she cares about. Of course this sends Jonah into a raging ball of testosterone and he confronts her father with an offer for him to leave Raven alone. Needless to say, promises are not kept and things go to hell in a hand basket that ends in a fight and shootout.

Truly enjoyed Jonah and Raven falling in love and am looking forward to Blake's story next. I enjoyed the narration and thought they both did a great job.

Nice balance of romance and action. The author repeatedly uses similar phrases and imagery.
Good narration, though the female narrator is a bit breathy.
Overall entertaining.

Frustrating

while the story is very good, there comes a point where it becomes too frustrating to go on. sometimes a books villain can be too evil to the point that you just can't listen. That's what happened to me with this book. I had to force myself to get through it to finally get the happily ever after.

ehhhh NOT the best

I had read the reviews before hand & even though the story was “ok” the main male character Jonah pretty much saved/carried this story... the story had such potential... but there was just moments where I was just shaking my head at the “ridiculousness” of certain moments... and Raven... come on... couldn’t she have been a stinger female WITH a brain? like I said it was ok... I did finish it... BUT had so much more potential

Very good start to the series :)

4 stars

This was a very good story. I liked Raven and Jonah and their story was one I enjoyed. This is the first story I've read by this author and based on this I'm likely to try more of her work in the future.

Raven rather sweet woman that works as a car mechanic that does great work in restoring classic cars. She's a few weeks away from turning 21 years old. She had a prostitute of a mother who never showed her any caring or touched her if she could help it. Raven's father wasn't around and is a big crime boss that everyone in Vegas fears.

Jonah is an undefeated UFL fighter that's getting ready to fight the championship fight. He's a good guy but is a man-whore who never sleeps with the same woman twice (it's a rule). He loves fast cars and gets in to restoring cars in his spare time. It's this hobby that introduces him to Raven.

Jonah has an old (non-running) Impala that he wants to get running and restored. He goes to Guy's garage and Guy just happens to be Raven's boss. He assigns her to work with Jonah at his place restoring the Impala and there's an attraction right off the bat. After a few sessions of working on the car at Jonah's place, he's decided he likes Raven and wants to see more of her. This is something big for him because he's never dated anyone, he just sleeps with them and never sees them again. Jonah invites Raven to a BBQ at his place (along with a bunch of his friends) and she's unsure about his intentions. Everyone else does pretty good at figuring out that Jonah's attention has been well a truly caught though and an jealous wannabee tries to cause some trouble for Raven. Thankfully, Jonah stops this before it goes too far and makes it very clear to Raven that he's in to her. She is in to him as well and so when he invites her to stay she does.

Raven hasn't really dated much and is...well, lets just say she's very innocent when it comes to guys. The first night they spend together is no sex but Jonah still pretty much moves her in with him right off the bat. Raven is actually ready for more quickly but Jonah ends up holding back, worried that once they have sex he'll lose interest like with all the other women. Before too long Jonah realizes he's being an idiot and things escalate between them, solidifying them as a serious couple pretty quickly (within about a week). Around this time is when her father, who hasn't been in her life at all, suddenly drops the bomb that since he made Raven, he owns her and is now going to claim her to live out her life as a high class hooker for him. He basically threatens everyone she cares about and since he owns the local cops she doesn't have many options. Jonah is faced with some hard choices and he's willing to do anything needed to save the woman he loves. They go through some tough times and don't get through unscathed but they come out alive and together and end the story starting their HEA.

I enjoyed this story very much. Jonah was really good hero, pretty much everything a alpha male should be...protective and tough yet totally gone on his woman. Raven was a pretty good heroine but she had her moments. There were times I'm almost term as TSTL but yet at times she came through brilliantly (usually at the last moment) so overall I found I liked her. This was a really good story and I'm planning to read more of the series in the future. I'd recommend this book. Thumbs up. :)

A good series

The story us a different take than your usual love meet & greet. I liked both of the narrators and what they brought to their performances. I would definitely recommend this book. I've already purchased book 2. After everything that happened in book 1 I'm not sure what's left,

A fighter's theme book with a super hot alpha Hero

Where does Fighting for Flight rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Fighting for Flight was an easy book to listen to, even though it’s a drama. I could listen to this in one sitting. There’s so much that goes on to keep your interest and there’s plenty of book to listen to. It was well worth the listen.

What other book might you compare Fighting for Flight to and why?

I would compare Fighting for Flight to Vi Keeland’s MMA Fighter series or Katy Evan’s Real series. Both series have a fighter’s theme with strong males and a slightly intense dramatic storyline.

Which character – as performed by Ryan West and Erin Mallon – was your favorite?

I love Erin Mallon. I think she’s one of the best female narrators. I follow her books and I thought she was the perfect Raven. I felt her emotions completely. I also love her voice transitions into other characters, especially the male ones. She does great male transitions. Her voice is light, sweet and unique.

This is my first Ryan West narration. I love Ryan’s voice. I found it not so deep, but definitely dominate. I could imagine Jonah completely. I thought he conveyed the emotions well and he did great female transitions. I did find his voice a bit slow at times. His pauses were a bit too long for me and so I did speed up his parts by one forth the normal rate.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I really enjoyed Fighting for Flight. I thought the cover and story was unique. I loved the intro and it was the perfect tone to set for the rest of the book. I was immersed in the story and I felt like I connected to the characters.

Any additional comments?

I’m doing a re-read via audio version. If you haven’t tried audio, you should do it. It’s the best way to re-read your favorite books or even just try new ones.

4 Worth Fighting Stars

First off, Fighting for Flight starts out with a BAM and I was instantly drawn into the story. I couldn’t stop reading. JB Salsbury knows how to set-up the story. I felt like it really established the tone and pace for the read. I knew it would be slightly intense and steamy.

Raven doesn’t have the best parents. Her mom is a prostitute and her dad is a famous Las Vegas Pimp. Raven is twenty years old and works a mechanic. I really liked Raven. I found her character unique, sassy and strong. I didn’t know how a Heroine working as a mechanic would work for me, but it completely did. I found it cute reading her gushing over cars.

Raven is a character and you just feel for. She lives on her own and doesn’t really have friends. Because she doesn’t have the best parents, she’s shy, timid and doesn’t really go out. Jonah has money and is famous. Because Jonah is so high up, women use him for connections and therefore he doesn’t think the best of them.

Jonah is a famous fighter and has a car he needs restored. Raven goes to Jonah’s house daily to restore his car. Jonah is a player and doesn’t have sex with the same woman twice, but there’s something about Raven that might change his ways. Jonah is SUPER alpha. I love how determined he is. I love that he doesn’t play games and when he sees something he wants he goes for it. He’s apprehensive at first when he meets Raven because he’s never slept with the same woman twice and he’s scared that if he sleeps with Raven then he will lose interest.

I gobbled up the relationship between Jonah and Raven. I loved how they meet and I love every interaction. Jonah invites Raven to a pool party and Raven doesn’t want to seem needy and Jonah tries desperately to stay away from Raven, but of course everyone is checking Raven out. And it gets Jonah kind of jealous. It’s really adorable.

The relationship between Raven and Jonah form fairly quickly and I would call it insta-connection. There’s plenty of steam and tension to keep you going. I really liked Jonah’s friends. They are funny and add a little something to the story. We will see more of them in future books.

More stuff happens and Jonah puts himself in the situation where he has to protect Raven. Yes, I love it too!

Flight for Flight is about Jonah and Raven’s relationship and the obstacles Raven must face when her past slowly starts to resurface. It’s a dramatic read, with slight tension and a fighting theme.
