About this listen
Too smart to be “just” a racehorse, too talented to hang out with other lesson horses, and too proud to believe in fairy tales, Milo chose a lonely path in life. He didn’t want cuddles, treats, friends, or even love until the day he met Claire. Her love opened his heart, but it would take nudging from a very special horse to finally open his mind.
Barney learned early that love wasn’t a gift you earned, but rather one that could only be given freely. His unique perspective on life was just what Milo needed to let go of the pride that held him back. From lonely, to family, Barney and Milo find the acceptance they each thought would never be theirs.

Story
Six months ago, Ty Sutherland dropped out of an online sex chat group. It was anonymous. No one knew their real identity. And it was a space where they could finally be themselves. Unfortunately, it was also a space where they fell in love with a woman whose name they promised to forget. Leslie Brandt would like to forget the online sex chat group she joined on a whim. In real life, she's a successful realtor with a professional image to maintain. She'd never want anyone to know the kinky things she's fantasized about—even if maybe she wishes some of those things could actually happen.

Story
When Chris McDougall agreed to take in a donkey from an animal hoarder, he thought it would be no harder than the rest of the adjustments he and his family had made after moving from Philadelphia to the heart of Pennsylvania Amish country. But when he arrived, Sherman was in such bad shape he could barely move, and his hair was coming out in clumps. Chris decided to undertake a radical rehabilitation program designed not only to heal Sherman's body but to heal his mind as well - and so Chris decided to teach Sherman how to run.

With the 2016 Rio Olympics just around the corner, nothing is going to derail her long-held dream of winning a medal or two in Olympic dressage. Not even the reappearance of a childhood so-not-a-friend throwing her perfectly balanced life into disarray. Addie Gardner’s career is at its peak, and accepting a last-minute fill-in position as the veterinarian for the US Olympic Dressage Team was a no-brainer. The fact that her old crush from Pony Club is on the team is just a bonus.

Story
Monty Roberts' father, a traditional horse trainer, had taught his son to dominate a horse in order to "break" it. But when he was 13, Monty made a discovery that changed his life. As he watched a mare tame a rebellious colt, Monty saw that she was speaking to it through eye and body movements. Astonished, Monty realized that he could train horses by using their language, speaking to them in ways that would form trust and understanding. Developing techniques based on what he learned from the horses around him, Monty embarked on a remarkable career - one that would bring him international fame as the real Horse Whisperer.

I am not a horse person but..
OK, I did not go through a horse phase, I did however, spend a few summers on a working ranch in western Colorado. During those summers I got to know a few horses very well, I also got to know where the low hanging branches were when they tried scrape me off. I also got to know how hard the ground was when they bucked me off, and how cold the mountain streams were when they decided to roll with me in the middle of them. In spite of that, I found this book about these horses delightful! It was well written and definitely geared toward that time in most young girls lives (Maybe guys? But mostly girls.) when horses take over. The story is not too complex, just enough to hold the attention and keep the moral compass. I think the performance was one of the best, upbeat and right on tempo for the material. This is one of the rare occasions when it feels like the author and the narrator are a perfect fit. I would love to see more from both of these artists!
