About this listen

Issa, tribal chieftain and warrior, dies trying to protect his family and tribesmen from slave traders but is given a second chance at life as an angel. Having lost his home, daughters, and life by forces beyond his control, Issa, a guardian angel for four centuries, has yet to come to terms with this "failure". So when a rogue demon attacks and almost kills his wife, Serwa, Issa goes on the hunt. Serwa knows the pain of loss, the burn of fire, and the heat of love. She is a healer angel, bound to help, to heal, to protect. And the person she wants most to heal is Issa, her husband, her soul mate, her warrior. But what is a woman to do when a husband's guilt and fury challenge the very foundation of their marriage?

hard to follow

this was a hard book to follow for me. it seemed to jump around in time and I felt it left a lot out! I might give it another try, maybe it will make more sense the second time through.

Love Across the Ages

If you could sum up Fire, Fury, Faith in three words, what would they be?

Entertaining
Lovely
Heart-warming

What was one of the most memorable moments of Fire, Fury, Faith?

The information the author gave about the brutality of the slave raid. The author didn't dwell on the ugliness of such events, but told just enough so the reader could get a feel for its cruelty and impact on its survivors - Serwa and Issa

Which scene was your favorite?

Serwa 's forgiveness. She was a powerful angel with a good heart. But she wasn't the type of angel that was all goodness and light. There were depths to both main characters. But Serwa was a forgiving character, which endeared her to me.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Issa's efforts at redemption was heartbreaking as much as it was heart-warming to see how much he loved his wife and daughters. He was a true Guardian Angel.

Any additional comments?

I hope the author continues with the second book in the series.

Far more than I expected

First, let me state this book is for mature audiences only. The sex scenes are graphic. Normally, I don’t like graphic scenes, but in this book they are meaningful to the story, so I was okay with it.

This is a story of warring tribes, angel and demons, dark and light, the bond of love, and the terror of hate. While the demons prove to be consistently bad, contaminating those around them, the angels come in different flavors. The warrior angels hunt demons and can be as blood thirsty as the demons they fight. And if they go too long without spiritual healing, they can lose their way. That is exactly what happens to our hero. When he becomes an angel, he seeks revenge on the demon who continues to torture his beloved wife, but at a long and terrible cost to himself and his wife.

I was impressed with both the maturity and beauty of the writing and the layers of meanings hidden within. I highly recommend this for adults who like a book that leaves you thinking about the deeper meanings beneath an intriguing tale.

Warriors

What was one of the most memorable moments of Fire, Fury, Faith?

I wish the audiobook was longer. It ended just when I was getting interested. The plot is well written and the narration was very good.

Passion and Love

What did you love best about Fire, Fury, Faith?

Short but sweet story. The first chapter really had me. I didn't expect the twist at the end. And it was this twist, along with what the author set up in the first chapter that carried the story. The love between Issa and Serwa was full of passion and love.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Issa was my favorite, mainly because he was such a tortured hero.

Which scene was your favorite?

When Serwa saved her husband. Don't want to spoil the book, but I loved this part of the story. It really showed how much they loved and needed each other.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The final scene. Again, no spoilers. But things came full circle for them in a nice way.

Too short, intense, good narrator

The narrator did a good job bringing these characters to life. There was a lot to grasp in such a short read. The two main characters spent too much time apart. Their time together was lovinf, caring, intense, sensual.

Lyrical, sensual paranormal delight

This story is not quite what I expected but in a good way. It was more.

This is a tale of a battle between angels and demons and the love story, the mating bond between Issa & Serwa, 2 beautiful names that I loved for their uniqueness and lyrical nature & the way they were pronounced by the narrator. This story includes such creative detail, not rehashing old or common ways of describing anything. The author had such a knack for being descriptive in unique and visually enticing ways that is rare in the more than 1500 audible books I've downloaded. I enjoyed how the author detailed the difference between hunter angel wings, guardian angel wings, and healer angel wings along with just differentiating these angels, for instance. The story also includes a touch of a discussion of another realm of existence vs the human dimension. The author also gave insight into being a born angel vs a made angel. There was such beauty in the magic prominent in the story.

The relationship between Issa & Serwa was not all champagne and roses, thankfully. There was some conflict, appropriately, no misunderstandings that could've easily been fixed if someone just opened their mouth or manufactured conflict used as an obvious trope. And the sensual nature of their relationship was more romantic than anything. There were 3 sensual sex scenes. There were not explicit but quite sensual; no earthy, explicit lingo is used in this story. I don't mind when it is, but it's lovely in the way the author focused on sensuality more than eroticism. The lyrical nature of this story came out there too.

I will definitely be looking for more from this author. And hopefully the same narrator will be used. It was a perfect match. Altogether, this was more like a 4.5.
