Publisher's summary

In an ancient land in a time foretold by prophets, a babe was born beneath a shining star. Thirty years later, Jesus of Nazareth began teaching a message of hope, peace, and love. He claimed to be the Son of God, and his words - and his life - would change the world.

Though David ben Joseph is quick to accept Jesus as the Messiah, the rest of his family is more cautious. His wife, Deborah, and his son, Simeon, leaders in the rebellious Zealot movement, look for a Messiah that will crush the Romans with power and the sword, not one preaching a message of love and forgiveness.

Meanwhile, reports of Jesus have reached into the very heart of Jerusalem, and both the powerful Sadducee Mordechai ben Uzziel and the Pharisee Azariah agree that something must be done to stop this man from Nazareth before he gets out of hand.

Fishers of Men is a sweeping epic filled with memorable characters who bring to life an extraordinary time in the history of the world. It is a story about the importance of family, the power of faith, the miracle of forgiveness, and the strength needed to follow your heart.

Very Enjoyable.

Although the story is fiction it still helps you to understand what people went through during the turbulent time when Jesus was here on Earth

great story and insights

Lund's insights into the culture and story of Christ's ministry and life are very interesting and give deeper meaning to my personal study of the bible. I listened to this with my wife and young children while studying the New Testament and it's a great companion to bring the Bible to life.
At first I wasn't sure I liked the performance, but after an hour or so he had brought the characters to life for us and though his deep voice probably isn't great for female characters it ended up working for my immersion into the story and people.
I can't wait to listen to the next book in the series.

One of my favorite

This book is out of one of my favorite from a series. I read these years ago but decided to purchase the audio version. Excellent in every way... except... the reader was kina boring to listen to. He didn't put a lot of expression in the reading but still overall a 5 star read.

Gerald Lund brings the Savior to our imagination.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

When listening to this book, it is so easy to picture being there by the sea of Galilee, listening to the Master teach.

What other book might you compare Fishers of Men to and why?

I highly recommend the two additional books in the series.

Spiritual strength with a dramatic story

I read the book and I felt I was Simeon. I grew to love Simeon and his father. The story is a means of learning about our Savior and to be one of Jesus's followers. You m87ust "read" the two sequels to feel like a complete follower of Jesus.
