About this listen

Alabama Hargrove has a new, sure-fire, money-making scheme up her sleeve: house flipper. So what if she knows zilch about renovating homes - how hard can it be?

Tougher than she thought when she discovers ghosts inhabiting the run-down mansion and the corpse of the previous owner. Oh yeah, and now the local sheriff thinks Alabama is the killer.

Holy house rehab! What's next? Reed O'Hara, the sexy know-it-all next door neighbor that's what. Alabama is hell-bent on proving she can handle the fixer-upper. Plus, unravel the mystery and find the killer. But if she's not careful, she may end up in the house forever....

The story was good. The narrator was not. I struggled through this book because of that.

Wasn't a fan of the narrator

Overall, this book mainly features weak writing and plot, but not a bad "day at the beach" time killer.

Just okay

Loved the characters and the storyline. This will prove to be a great series. The chemistry between Alabama and Reed is wonderful! I look forward to the next one!

Enjoyable!

Nice, fun, cozy mystery with a lot of interesting characters. Not a lot on the work of doing, but lots about the ghosts and the murder that Alabama happened upon and the scare tactics used on her. All in all, a light, relaxing read that I was fortunate to get as Whispersync on the cheap. The narrator did really well, but I'm one of those who needs to hear it at a faster speed.

Alabama Hargrove has a track record of failed business schemes and buying a old house without even doing a thorough walk through or getting inspections first is her most recent strategy plan. So without any good sense she persuades herself she can flip this money pit house.
This could have been a much better story if Alabama was less annoying. I don't see in the end anything about her having success with this flip. The narrator was as annoying as Alabama Hargrove was. Her narration of males is atrocious, she reads in stilted way that sounds hollow with pauses that are too long and at inappropriate. It was hard to tell if the narrator ruined a fairly good book or the book just isn't that interesting.

Flip That Haunted House without enough ghosts

I really liked this story. I am a ghost hunter from KY and am really looking forward to seeing what kind of mess Alabama gets herself into.

The story was good but the narrator really bothered me for two reasons- she made Reef sound like he was a dumb hick and I could not connect with him because of it and second she mispronounced Louisville.

I love Rose Pressey stories
They are always so funny and relatable

I am going to start on the second book.
I think this one was really interesting and the things that happened to Alabama really kept you on your toes.

Good story about a girl, a haunted house, and the boy next door

The beginning chapters were very slow but my patience encouraged me to keep listening and I'm glad I did. I really enjoyed the latter half because it became suspenseful.

Fun story to hear
