Publisher's summary

An all-new stand-alone from New York Times best-selling author Julia Kent

It all started with the wrong Help Wanted ad. Of course it did.

I'm a professional fluffer. It's not what you think. I stage homes for a living. Real estate agents love me, and my work stands on its own merits.

Sigh. Get your mind out of the gutter. Go ahead. Laugh. I'll wait.

See? That's the problem. My career has used the term "fluffer" for decades. I didn't even know there was a more...lascivious definition of the term.

Until it was too late.

The ad for a "professional fluffer" on Craigslist seemed like divine intervention. My last unemployment check was in the bank. I was desperate. Rent was due. The ad said cash paid at the end of the day. The perfect job!

Staging homes means showing your best angle. The same principle applies in making a certain kind of movie. Turns out a "fluffer" doesn't arrange decorative pillows on a couch.

They arrange other soft, round-ish objects.

The job isn't hard. Er, I mean, it is - it's about being hard. Or, well...helping other people to be hard.

Oh, man....

And that's the other problem. A man. No, not one of the stars on the movie set. Will Lotham - my high school crush. The owner of the house where we're filming. Illegally. In a vacation rental.

By the time the cops show up, what I thought was just a great house staging gig turned into a nightmare involving pictures of me with an undressed star, Will rescuing me from an arrest, and a humiliating lesson in my own naivete.

My job turned out to be so much harder than I expected. But you know what's easier than I ever imagined?

Having all my dreams come true.

Fluffy is a full-length novel and is a stand-alone romantic comedy from New York Times best-selling author Julia Kent.

Fun and entertaining!

What an entertaining story! I admit, I was just as naïve as Mallory — as I didn’t know what a Fluffer was either, and boy did I have a LAUGH as I discovered the meaning through her experience. OH my!! The whole opening scene sets the stage for this hilarious tale. Mallory becomes reunited with her high school crush and through a series of embarrassing moments, witty banter and misconceptions revealed, Mallory gets the happily ever after that she always daydreamed about. The supporting cast of characters are such a hoot, adding to the comedic fun and in turn, we’ll hopefully soon discover their stories as well. Erin Mallon was THE perfect choice as narrator. She brought such life to these characters and story, elevating it to a whole other level of funny!

Laugh out loud romance!

This book was hilarious from the first page! Mallory truly did keep me in stiches from her awkward antics with men, and life in general. Erin Mallon did an amazing job with narration. She truly does a better male voice than half the men do. Give this a listen. You won't regret it!

Wonderfully hilarious story

I really did love the story itself, as I do most of Julia Kent’s books. And Erin did a fantastic job portraying Mallory. She reminded me of some of the brainiacs I was friends with in college. I found myself laughing out loud a lot, especially in the early parts of the book. But it also pulled at my heartstrings towards the end. It really was a fantastic story. Th donkey thing that bothered me was the introspective/internal dialogue that Mallory was having with herself got really long and arduous to listen to after a while. I kept thinking, “God, whoever she’s talking to must think she’s a space case because she takes so long to respond. I don’t think I’d have the patience to be friends with her.” That could have been toned down a bit and all the descriptions and alliterations could have been cut by half and I would have enjoyed it more. It’s one think when I’m reading it, because I read really fast and can skim past redundancy and fluff, but when you’re listening to it, I found it frustrating.

Cute and Hilarious!

I love this story! This is a sweet and hilarious second chance to love and slow burn story. I love Will and Mallory. They are both great characters. If you like Rom-Com, you should love this one. Erin Mallon did an amazing job with the narration. This is a great team author/narrator. I enjoyed listening to this audiobook. #AudiobookObsession

So CUTE!

So cute!! A sweet, hilarious slow burn of a second chance romance. I’m excited to get Perky and Feisty’s stories too. It reminded me a bit of Tara Sivec (a la Jed Had to Die and Heidi’s Guide to Four Letter Words) in the best way possible. This was my first Julia Kent book and won’t be my last! 4.25 out of 5 wine glasses.

Would have been better with a different narrator

3 1/2 Caffeinated Stars

Back in April, it seemed that this book was everywhere. A lot of the bloggers I followed posted review after review of this book, so it wore me down, and I had to buy it. Unfortunately, with how busy my review schedule was, this book sat on my kindle for months. On a whim, I checked the audible escape package and was so excited to find Fluffy on it! I downloaded it right away and eagerly started the audiobook.

Unfortunately, I wasn't a fan of Erin Mallon's narration. It was almost like every sentence was a question. There was a perpetual question intonation that left me perplexed and annoyed. I would have liked this book better if the narrator was someone else. Honestly, I keep having to remind myself that it's not the book's fault that I didn't enjoy the narrator.

Fluffy is one of those books that will make you laugh. The characters are witty, but I admit, I wasn't a massive fan of how the humor verged on sitcom. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed watching Friends, but there were multiple times where I expected a laugh track. I will admit, the plot became a little too sitcom-y for me, and I wish that it held a bit more of an emotional punch.

Though the humor at times fell flat, I did enjoy the characters. I'm a character-driven reader, so I enjoyed watching the interaction between Mallory, Will, and all the side characters. I do wish I would have gotten to know more about the side characters, but I'm sure I'll find out more if I continue in the series.

All in all, this is a cute book that kept me engaged and wanting to know more. The comedy wasn't my favorite, but it still was good. I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys Rom-Coms with no emotional punch to them.

Must. Have.

Ah Julia Kent. How do you make every book so refreshing, every story line feel like it’s never been done before, and every character so rich in personality?.

Will & Mallory reconnect in such a whirlwind of misunderstanding of both the present & the past. The one that never was somehow is also the one that got away.

Mallory is so smart, funny, and goofy. She feels like your best friend who has constant foot in mouth (or text in mouth) syndrome.

Will. Oh Will. The slowest pursuit I’ve read about but not in a hurry up already kind of way. He’s sweet, funny, caring & smart.

He’s everything Mallory wanted for her own when they were in high school. She’s everything & more than Will expected out of this second chance.

Will & Mallory’s story is unputdownable (except when you have a 3mo old)!! & OMG is it HILARIOUS! Easily one of my favorite audiobooks. A must read/listen!

I'm a Professional Fluffer lol

This one was pretty funny, Mallory answered an ad for a "Fluffer" not knowing what the actual term was a porn term because she stages homes for a living. As she reports to her first day on the job everything starts unraveling as she begins to realize sort of what it was and then in comes her high school crush to kick everyone out of his parents house for trespassing and the laughs just continue from there. Erin Mallon was the best person that Julia Kent could have picked for the narrator because no one does a male voice better that she does and then goes back to the female narration.
