About this listen

Blaze TV and top radio host Dana Loesch explains that the biggest political problem today is that the people who run this country have no idea what life is really like for ordinary Americans. In fact, they have contempt for the very people they claim to represent.

When the owners of a small pizza parlor in Indiana were asked by the local press whether they would ever cater a gay wedding, they said no, citing their personal religious beliefs. The internet responded with immediate outrage, posting death threats and vicious online reviews, and forcing them to shut down. All for expressing a personal opinion rooted in faith, in response to a completely hypothetical question. A new front in the culture war had been opened.

When the owners of the pizza parlor told Dana Loesch on a Blaze TV interview that they might never reopen, Loesch started a fundraising campaign. Hundreds of thousands of dollars quickly poured in to support them. The people donating weren't taking a stand against gay rights; they just believed that a random mom-and-pop shop shouldn't be run out of business because media and political elites on both coasts caricature and vilify rural Americans.

Most of the problems with our country today can be traced to a very simple cause - the growing disconnect between the government and media elites and the rest of us, the old-fashioned, hard-working, God-fearing Americans who are proud to live in middle America. As Loesch explains, too many people getting on their high horse about Wal-Mart have never shopped in one. Protesters outraged at small town cops have never been helped by one. Environmentalists who claim to want to protect the spotted owl have never been in the woods with one. Atheists who attack committed Christians have never sat in a pew with one.

Loesch doesn't take aims solely at the Democrats; some Republicans in Congress and on the presidential campaign trail have also forgotten what life is like for the people back home. While these so-called leaders may have forgotten the people in coal towns and farming communities, the voters in those communities haven't forgotten Washington's betrayals. And it will show in 2016.

As one of the most powerful and recognizable voices on talk radio today, Dana Loesch is leading a revolution of America's new Silent Majority.

Loved it

Kinda wish she would have read it like she did the last book, but I understand she’s very busy. Go Dana, you rock!

Great book from a great conservative leader.

Funny, conservative, & informative. What else could you ask for? Mrs. Loesch(how you get "Lash" out of that I'll never understand) is the firebrand of conservatism. Her writing style is extremely entertaining and thought provoking. The narrorator, Mrs Schnaubelt, even sounds like Dana. Great audiobook!

Ah I think I am in love.

I met Dana at a book signing she was a very nice lady. Next thing I knew I started reading this book I was enthralled by it I couldn't stop listening to the audio version. I also met Dana's husband Chris at the book signing I told him I hated him because I love this woman and I want to marry her so I asked if she had a sister. The answer was no. But the book is amazing if you don't know anything about the conservative movement you really need to listen to this book. Even if you do know what a conservative is you need to listen to this book so that you can learn all the dirty little details about DC and all their corruption.

Most of the book was good

Most of the content was good. Could have done without the implied hick/redneck references to everyone in “flyover”. There are number of times when she implies that everyone in “flyover” shares the same values. Beyond that, it was ok.

An excellent listen of most of the US.

What made the experience of listening to Flyover Nation the most enjoyable?

I could put names and faces to a whole host of the people she talks about, obviously not her experience, but I did have a great deal of common feelings about what she describes.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

yes

Any additional comments?

This book is good to read before voting in the 2016 election.

We need more Dana

We need more minds like hers, unapologetically intelligent.
I like they way Dana thinks, analyzes issues and openly speaks about where she comes from. I wish we had more people like her.
definitely recommend.

Fascinating

Any additional comments?

This is a fascinating book. Any coastal left-wing elite needs to listen to this book to understand that for every one of him or her, there's someone living in Indiana or Oklahoma or Utah who listens to a church choir and preacher rather than talking heads on Sunday mornings, who stands reverently with his teammates during the National Anthem, who attends the Fourth of July parade before cracking open a wine cooler and who spends Saturday morning baking for the church or school fundraiser rather than march, chant slogans and raise signs to protest every perceived injustice in the world. I'd never heard of the author before listening. She makes a lot of sense and accurately portrays life in the vast land in which so many Americans live. To these folks, patriotism, respect for the military and activity in the community is so much more relevant than free contraceptives, access to gender-reassignment surgery through medical insurance and abortion on demand. It seem strange that we label those who support these items as "progressives" - as though we as a nation are making progress as we move toward these priorities.

I don't agree with Ms Loesch's view on every issue, but I understand more clearly why former Sec. of State Clinton lost the presidential election. In my neck of the woods (living eight miles from the Atlantic Ocean between Boston and NYC), few can understand why she didn't win in a landslide. Anyone who's read or listened to this book understands clearly.

Truthful Realism

I truly enjoyed this book. Dana has quite perfectly captured the essence of our country in this current era. I'm not from flyover territory, but as a "coastal", I most certainly can identify with them.

I'm a flyover at heart!

I was born in Ohio, and raised in Washington state. I have family all over flyover. I have many family members who have served in the military. I also have family members who are farmers and ranchers. I was raised with a strong Christian faith and a strong work ethic. This book spoke to me. I loved it from start to finish!
