About this listen

NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • The highly acclaimed, provocative essay on feminism and sexual politics—from the award-winning author of Americanah

"A call to action, for all people in the world, to undo the gender hierarchy." —Medium

In this personal, eloquently-argued essay—adapted from the much-admired TEDx talk of the same name—Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie offers readers a unique definition of feminism for the twenty-first century. Drawing extensively on her own experiences and her deep understanding of the often masked realities of sexual politics, here is one remarkable author’s exploration of what it means to be a woman now—and an of-the-moment rallying cry for why we should all be feminists.

Beautiful

Would you listen to We Should All Be Feminists again? Why?

I adored Adichie's TedTalk, so when I saw the book I knew I had to have it. It was used in my feminist political science course and I love it!

Everyone should read this book. It resonated so deeply. It put such elegant words to what we experience as women. It gave me profound motivation for raising my little boy to be a proud feminist.

Loved it!

What a pleasure to listen to! I agree with everything Chimamanda had to say within this essay, and greatly enjoyed listening to her narrate it! I believe this book should be required reading in every school across the world! This was my first work by Chimamanda, but I plan on reading all the rest of her books as soon as possible!

Yes, we should.

This book is spot on, not just for the culture in Nigeria, but everywhere. She makes a compelling argument for equality of the genders. A quick, easy listen but mind-expanding.

Makes the case!

This was a really helpful cross-cultural perspective on what feminism is and how it should be accessible to anyone who wants to explore the topic.

Should be read by simply everyone

I love the perspective of this author and her voice. If everyone read this, wow how the world could be different. I also found it so very aligned with the Black Lives Matter movement and what it actually stands for rather than what people who don’t realize there’s a problem believe it to stand for. This is the same for feminism! This was a wonderful read.

every word spoke to me

Too short but so beautiful.
For some reason the sound seemed much lower on this recording than typical for Audible.

Not what i expected

This book was recommended to me by a member of a book club I’m in. I was skeptical about it thinking it would be a rant about women’s rights filled with vitriol and anger like so many women’s rights books. It was nothing like that and I am so glad I got it. I’ve never thought of myself as a Feminist but from Chimamanda’s viewpoint she the blew the stereotypical definition out of the water. In her eyes I am a feminist.
