About this listen

Lady Imogene Norwood lives a sheltered life of quiet respectability and routine - until she meets the wild and broken Lord Atwood. He is wholly unexpected among London's elite, and the very shy English rose suddenly realizes that a little chaos might just be what her heart desires.

Lord Nathaniel James Atwood doesn't believe true love exists. Since scandal tore him away from his family at an early age, he has spent his life fighting for what he wants. That attitude has made him a rising star in bare-knuckle boxing, and now leads him back to London to reclaim the life that was stolen from him. But upon meeting the innocent Imogene, his beliefs are trounced - as guarding his heart against her proves to be the fight of his life.

The narrator is so awful the story suffers.

Any additional comments?

First let me say that I am a Delilah Marvelle fan, her books are always great. I was so excited to see this book in audible form and was so disappointed when it started. The narrator was so awful. I don't want to be mean but I asked two other people to give a listen just to see if it was "just me". It wasn't. They agreed, it was awful.

Leslie Bellair would make a great nartator for a child's book perhaps but her extremely young voice is a bad choice for a romance. She reads really fast and flat, exuding absolutely NO personality into it. She sounds like she just wants to get through this book as quickly as possible and the listener suffers.

I had to give up after a few hours which was so disappointing because the story seems pretty good. I guess I'm on my way over to Amazon to buy the e-book.

Don't waste your credits, buy the book.

Pretty good, not great

I liked the story and the characters. The sex scenes were erotic but many missed opportunities like on the roof and in the boxing club. Really could've been great and romantic. I was also put off a little by the fact that Nathaniel was 40 and she was only 19. It seemed a little unlikely that a 40 year old would be at the peak of his boxing at that age. No real drama. Most of the suggested drama was solved without a lot of fanfare. Nathanael's father's justice was a little anticlimactic and quickly dealt with. I think more could've been elaborated on in that area. More about the father and mother and their relationship. The narrator was pretty good actually. I thought I wouldn't like an American doing Brit and Irish accents but she was good. More emotion could have been used in the dialogue.

Rumor Series great storyline

This is series has a great storyline. The author is witty and I found myself laughing out loud in a few places and had to look around to make sure no one caught it. The story is one that travels through the series and finishes up with Forever a Lord. It's one of the most intriguing I've read in some time. This is the first I've listened to Marvelle. I do hope to find other books that are audio.
I do suggest you start with the Prequel Forever Mine, which is an ebook. There are also a couple of chapters that were not published that the writer provides for you on her site. I tend to agree with the writer these chapters should have been left in the prequel.
The characters are genuine and it's a story you won't want to put down.
The narrators are all different. I think I liked the last the least as it was a slower pace. Once I was used to the pace it was fine. I was more interested in the story than the narrator was annoying.
This is definitely a keeper. I can see myself re-listening to the series again in the future.
