About this listen

“Extraordinarily entertaining….with a cinematic flair that Hitchcock would envy.”–Booklist, starred review

Perfect for fans of Karen Slaughter, Lisa Jewell, and Sandra Brown comes a brand-new heartstoppingly suspenseful thriller from New York Times bestselling author Christina Dodd...

A submerged car is pulled from the bottom of the lake. The driver has been shot in the back of the head and no other bodies are found. Only a legendary sculpture remains inside, and as it rises to the surface, greedy collectors from around the world gather. They'll stop at nothing to gain possession of the priceless artifact. Only one person stands in their way…

Zoey Phoenix remembers nothing about her early childhood; her mother’s desire to leave those years behind never worried her…until she’s almost killed in a hit and run and, days later, her mother disappears. Now Zoey fears her family secrets won’t stay buried long. She has no idea who tried to murder her or why, but she’s determined to unravel the dangerous truths of her past—before they claim her future.

Forget what you know...yet the past remembers.

"If Lisa Jewell, Ruth Ware and Lucy Foley are on your Mount Rushmore of suspense writers, Dodd's latest release definitely needs a spot on your shelf."—E! News

Even better than the last!

The town of Gothic is quickly becoming my favorite small town to visit. The characters are intriguing, and the story is superb.

Should have quit while ahead

Would have been much better if the last part hadn’t been a talking dog telling the sister how to locate a missing child…..Pretty Bad! Almost ruined the whole story for me.

Another Awesome Gothic story

I just love the characters that come to this town and the crazy events that happen. They all have their own unique talents, flaws and love ability.

Interesting but not riveting

A lot of things going on at the end of the book. Didn’t seem like much of a well developed plot twist.

So Trite

The story itself reads like a young adult book. I expected more based on the reviews. The narration is awful! Injecting a Russian accent in an American character was just stupid. The inflection of the narrator was too sing song, making a childish story seem the more so, unfortunately. Good thing this was a sale book. Hitchcock? Not even close.

Should be on the free shelf

Predictable, trite, corny. I respect anyone who can write a book. That is an accomplishment. This however was not worth the sale price.

Not good

This was not worth buying , now I know why it was on sale , the story line was dumb , the cast of characters was also dumb and the voices were annoying . The only reason I finished it was i was on a long fly and had nothing else
